Twitter

Someone tweeted the other day: "How does anyone ever get anything fucking DONE?" Another person once told me how to use Twitter when I first opened my account. She said to use it only to get information from/about certain things that interest you. But I've noticed that a lot of people also use it for holding conversations, somewhat akin to texting each other. I find that Twitter works best for me if I check it quickly to find game scores or other news about my teams. Conversations, as long as they are brief, are okay too. But because the tweets update so quickly, it gives me a headache if I stay on it for too long. And it is so easy to get sucked into spending loooong hours on Twitter that prevent you from doing anything else at all!

Facebook

It's great for keeping up with friends and family, and for playing games. But it's horrible for the lack of privacy unless you cut out people altogether. It has a confusing layout. I really don't like Facebook that much.

Livejournal and other online journal/blog sites are great. Anything that lets you control your own privacy and gives you the freedom to post your own opinions and whatever you want, is awesome. And the ability to add large photos, artwork, videos, etc., easily and that are easy to see with a simple 'click' is a great plus, making these my favourite types of social networking sites.

And while I have accounts at ALL these places, including Tumblr, Dreamwidth and some blogging sites, I hardly ever use them. All I need is more free time, though, and someday I will have it.

Game of Thrones, Season 2, Episode 5

This was the halfway point in the season, and having read through Book Two again, here is what I thought would occur on the show.

WARNING: SPOILERS!

If you haven't read through Book Five in the series, DO NOT read this post!

Here is what I thought might happen:

1. Sansa meets Ser Dontos in the Godswood where he promises to help her escape and go home. Then she runs into The Hound on the way back.

2. Tyrion learns about wildfire.

3. Bran meets the Reeds. Meera tells him about the green dreams.

4. Arya and Gendry become closer and talk about who they really are. Arya runs into Weese. (Who seems to have been replaced by Tywin.)

5. Jaqen tells Arya that he'll give her three wishes.

6. Catelyn speaks with her family. We meet the Blackfish.

7. Robb plans to release a Lannister/Frey cousin that he was holding prisoner.

8. Renly is killed at the end of the show, after having one last love scene with Loras.

9. Jon finds the Dragonglass and a black cloak buried in the snow, on what looked like a burial mound.

What really happened in the episode:

1. There was no Sansa, Hound, or Joffrey scene this week.

2. Tyrion does learn about the wildfire.

3. No Reeds. I was so afraid that these beloved characters would be left out, despite the fact that they would seem to be so necessary. But I suppose they are to be replaced by Osha and perhaps Cold Hands later on.

4. Arya and Gendry DO talk. There is no Weese, who seems to have been replaced by Tywin Lannister.

5. True! Jaquen did give Arya her 3 wishes.

6. No Tullys! Not yet, anyway.

7. NO Robb in this episode either.

8. Renly WAS killed, but in the opening scene! NO last love scene with Loras. *sigh*

9. NO Dragonglass. Not YET.

10. Also, there were scenes with Dany and the dragons, and while nothing much happened in Qarth, we did get to see the dragons and how they are growing and starting to eat meat.

11. And there was a scene with Theon and Asha. Sorry, I will not call her 'Yara', the made-up name the producers gave her. It's totally ridiculous, because 'Yara' sounds like 'Arya' and the reason why they changed the name 'Asha' to 'Yara' was because they thought 'Asha' sounded like 'Osha' and it would confuse the viewers. Duh. Asha and Osha have absolutely NO scenes together at ALL, so what sense does that make? Yara-Arya, Asha-Osha - what the hell is the difference? :(

Okay, that was fun. I can't wait for the next episode. They have all been superb this season so far. :)

Renly was one of the most boring characters in a book. But we all are reading books different and have other preferences :)
Some chracters are better dead than 'half-dead'! Stupid Loras.....

How will the have the Red Wedding without Edmure????

They told before that the seies will not follow the timeline in the books :( I Don't know why....
I guess ASOIAF is too complex to make a series for every reader or lover of the books. I have always my own pictures in my head and sometimes it fits with the series and sometimes it is only shit (Margaery Tully)

Cold Hands? The guy behind the wall who gets killed by Jon? I read the books in German :( and sometimes they change names :( I know him as 'Half Hand' and I loved him to pieces, but he is better dead than one of the poor guys who comes back as dead monster!

I somehow liked stannis in the books but not Melisandre. I hate that red woman!
I have downloaded it but I hate to read at my PC.....

My sister and I had a three-hour conversation this morning about GoT! We thought that perhaps they would leave out Riverrun and the Red Wedding entirely for the TV series and have Walder Frey and some of his sons come to Robb's camp, where they will find him with his woman. Then kill him there, instead of at The Twins, or wherever it happened! Of course, I would want Edmure, but who knows what they will cut now???

No, no, Cold Hands, the guy whose face you cannot see. I forget if he is from Book Five or was in Book Four. You have not yet read Book Five? It's in the part where Bran and Meera are running from some soldiers who are attacking them and Cold Hands is helping them. He is obviously one of the Starks brought back to life. I was hoping maybe Ned, but the mysterious guy could be also either Benjen or Brandon.

Qhorin Halfhand is the one with Jon right now in the series. I know he gets killed... :(

Yes, Stannis in the books is okay, especially as you read more. I really like him in Book Five. We find out more of Melisandre's past in Book Five too, that makes her a bit more likeable.

It's hard to read at the PC! I can send you Book Five if you like! In a paperback form! MUCH better than a download! :)))

Holy shit! That would be the worst!!!!

Cold Hands happened in book four, its hard for me with the names because in German the are sometimes different :(
Book five I haven't read so far (only the first chapters) but Ceren bought it in English and I will read it later. When I can buy it in German I will buy the paperback but I have still to wait.

I liked Halfhand!

I guess I will never like Melisandre! I would rather love Cersei!

Okay, it's so hard to predict what characters and settings the producers are going to leave out of GoT! But in an interview I saw, the producers seemed to be catering more to the people who had not read the books, than to those who have! Therefore they want to simplify everything!

OK, Cold Hands was in Book Four! It sucks that in German they change the names! I guess there is a reason...

OK, good that Ceren has the book in English so you can read it that way!

Halfhand was a good character. He taught Jon a lot...

Cersei is too evil! I would rather stay with Melisandre! I have hopes that she will be good after all. There are signs. I don't want to spoil anything, but she will be important for another of the major characters! :))))

I hate things are simplified!!!!!

I don't get it why they change some names in German :(

I Loved Halfhand! I like the actor too ;)

Melisandre is at the wall with Stannis in book four. The only main character there is Jon. Holy shit..... I know I wont like that!!!! But Bran is behind the wall and Melisandre is a witch..... another possibility.
TELL MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

You want to know? You really want to KNOW???

Okay...

For sure Melisandre is up to something with Jon. Stannis is gone to Deepwood Motte in order to attack Ramsay Bolton who has taken the castle. She tries to get close to Jon and he pushes her away at first. There is another girl - Val - who was Mance Rayder's wife's sister, and Jon has a special relationship with her. But gradually Jon and Melisandre get a little bit friendlier. SHE thinks he is Azhor Asshai reborn because she saw it in her flames! (But you know she is always WRONG about how she interprets what is in her flames!)

Jon has become the Lord Commander of the Wall, but in the process has made some enemies. At a very bad time, right at the end of Book Five, Jon is attacked and stabbed four or five times. It looks like he might be dead, but we are left not knowing...

There are a couple of possibilities...he is calling for Ghost, the direwolf, before he collapses, and perhaps he will 'shapeshift' into Ghost. Or Melisandre could save him somehow, with her red magic. It is possible she could 'transform' him into her beloved Azhor Asshai. We know Jon has always been the biggest mystery.

In an interview later, GRRM was asked, "Why did you kill Jon Snow?" and GRRM replied, "Do you REALLY think he is dead?"

There is much hope! And let's hope it won't be another 20 years before the next book is published!

I know Jon as Lord Commander and I know he has some enemies :(
I don't want Melisandre!!!! I don't want her to rescue Jon!!!! I would rather see him dead as saved by that shit woman! When GRRM will do it I will be pissed off!
GRRM is always writing against all the fans :( he cannot give one character the chance to stay in the hearts of the fans :( I don't like it!

maybe we have to wait 40 years? Hahahahahaaaa then I will be dead and maybe I wrote my own end of the story!

I am scared now that GRRM might not go the right way!
One more reason why I prefer to read books and watch programs that are already finished! I hate the waiting, and worse, I hate all the discussion about what might or might not happen! :(

I don't think GRRM will be around in 40 years! LOL. He is old himself. I hope he will just get back to writing the books soon!

Awriter will always follow his own rules. have you ever read another book where the GOOD character dies in the first part? ASOIAF is the only one I know and it makes the books very special because it is much more interesting.

I don't read any discussions! That's far too stupid for me. I have my own thoughts and don't need the ones of some fans.

I once followed 'The legend of the seeker' and wrote there it is better to finish the series because it never followed the books and got as answer: 'how can you write these and all fans are crying?' STUPID fans!

Let's hope he got his fingers out of his arse!

'Legend of the seeker' was like Xena.... stupid cheap made. Sam Raymi or how the guy's name is *lol*

I watched SPARTACUS and I love it! It's fiction but really good made and I love the gladiators! Lian McIntyre is a GREAT spartacus like Andy was.
Can't wait for the next season but that will need time.....

Oh no, Spartacus has been on TV here for awhile. But we have this feature called 'On Demand' that you can get if you have Pay TV, that is like renting videos. You just go to the special channel and with a few clicks you can see for free any shows over again, whenever you want. You do not have to wait for the specific time the show is broadcast. For me it is better that way, and is why I preferred DVDs or Netflix to watching shows when they are originally broadcast. I am not always available when the show is on. This way I can watch it whenever I am free. And some things are not for Sean's eyes so I must watch them either very early in the morning before he gets up, or when he is not here. ;)

Sean can never see Spartacus, Game of Thrones, Mad Men, Being Human or Girls!!! O_O

It pisses me off that The Borgias is NOT shown this way!!!! :(((((((

I know the 'on demand' thing but I will not pay for our shit TV.

I have always the possibility to downlowd what I want to watch :)

Spartacus, GOT or The Borgias are really not for the boy's eyes ;)
