Well, it's over. Done and dusted. Canada didn't make it. Of course, that was a given considering that our boys had to play the formidable Mexico in the semi-finals. However, we did a GREAT job and the game ended 3 - 1. We created several chances but the ball didn't want to go in the net, and we made a couple of defensive errors that resulted in at least one Mexican goal. Oh, well. Our boys proved that they are a fantastic team, and although it was an Under-23 team, most of the players were 21, with some 18 and 19 year olds in the mix. One player, Bryce Alderson, just turned 18 in February.
So Mexico and Honduras, being the two finalists, will be going to London in the summer as representatives of North and Central America. Good luck to them.
In the final, Mexico beat Honduras 2 - 1. It didn't mean anything, but the result seems fitting.
Of course, I have pictures:

CANADA TIES MEXICO - CONCACAF QUALIFIERS
Mar. 14th, 2008 08:13 amWow! I am ecstatic because Canada (my country) tied Mexico in the CONCACAF qualifiers for the World Cup 2010. Okay, it's still just the Group Stages and Mexico did not field any of their stars except for Memo Ochoa, their goalkeeper, but I'm thrilled because Mexico is No. 16 in the FIFA World national team rankings and Canada is 62nd.
CONCACAF stands for Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football. Yes, this is our group for qualifying for the World Cup. It's tough because we are up against many excellent teams, including the USA, Mexico, Honduras and Guatemala, to name a few.
Here is a small picspam from the match. Canada has many cute players and I'm so proud of them!
