The very first match was Russia vs Czech Republic on June 8th.



















Poland vs Greece happened the same day.











Portugal vs Germany on June 9th.

















And Netherlands vs Denmark on June 9th.

We lost. Again. I so felt for Wesley Sneijder apologising to fans for the bad results against Germany, but wow, the Germans just outclassed us (great play) and now they think they can still make it to the quarterfinals by beating Portugal. o_O

The teams I enjoyed the most so far are: Ireland (but I always root for them), Poland and Croatia. :c)

I do feel the pain of some of the players. Wesley is one I like a lot and I'm just as shocked as everyone about what has happened to the Netherlands team. However, all is not lost, because they could still move on if they win the next game, thanks to the other teams besides Germany all winning one match each. :)

Poor Ireland has also done poorly. Croatia has a chance of going through, but only under certain conditions. It'll be very interesting to see who are the second teams to come out of each group. ;)

Aw, but England is doing very well! It seems that without Lamps and some of the other injured players, the 'best' players have come together and shown what they can do! Stevie G, Andy Carroll, Theo Walcott and others have all been superb! It's quite exhilarating. Let's hope they will go through! XD

I wasn't expecting Pavlyuchenko to play, and then he comes on and scores and does an assist! yay!! ♥ good to see he's still the smiley person he is :D

I hardly recognized Lewandowski out of Dortmund's yellow-and-black kit. I even thought he looked good in white!

In part, I'm happy that Kyriakos Papadopoulos got his starting spot in the Greek squad, but I'm sad that it happened the way it did, with the cruciate ligament injury to the other Papadopoulos :( And now they're pretty much out of the competition :(

I was disappointed to see Sweden playing so dirty :/ I couldn't even get excited for their goals after all that :/

And the Ukraine were so excited after the win! awww It was so cute XD

Pavlyuchenko is such a good player, I was so disappointed when he left Spurs. :(

Yeah, Lewandowski looks good in white & red! He hardly looks like the same person - the yellow & black doesn't suit him I guess. O_O

Aww, no - I haven't seen De Rossi's tattoo! And now I want to! :(

Hahaha-Mexes is a fan of the double ponytail. I know I have some pics of Martin Caceres in the South American qualifer post I still have to do. He has an interesting new take on the ponytail too - what I call a 'doubled-over ponytail'. I'll make the post soon. ;)

Sweden was a disappointment for me too. Ah, well. I was happy for Ukraine! I really love Sheva.♥

Spurs has/had so many strikers; it was tough :/ Did they get rid of any others (aside from Crouch earlier) or just those two?

Before Crouchy and Pav, Spurs had sold Robbie Keane (to Liverpool) and Dimitar Berbatov (to Man Utd). They were a formidable striking duo, but neither did that well at the teams they went to. Robbie is now with the LA Galaxy and Berbs apparently wants away from United. :(((

Thanks for the pic of De Rossi's tattoo! LOL - it's cute! (But not the pimples on his leg - maybe his skin is sensitive to the sock fabric.) :(((

Yes, I've heard that Sheva will retire after this tournament. Poor guy was unlucky not to score in that last match. :(((

Great performance from England last night! Although not an England supporter even though I live there, I was very happy for them (and for you as they're your Group D team).

As much as I like the Netherlands, I think I'll be watching Germany v Denmark tomorrow as that has the makings of an interesting match.

I'm extremely happy for England. Will be interesting to see how Rooney will do, now that he's back from suspension.

Germany/Denmark should be a fascinating match, but for me, so will Portugal/The Netherlands. This group is the most interesting. I suppose Germany will go through as top of the group, but the second spot is up for grabs.
