MY TEAM: ARGENTINE PRIMERA: RIVER PLATE

Relegated last season to the 'B' division, River Plate and its fans were devastated. But former player Matias Almeyda became coach, and River currently sits on top of the league with 26 points. Although three teams have 26 points, River is ahead on goal differential.
Here are pics from the recent match vs Gimnasia Jujuy and training.

Fernando Cavenaghi was brought in to help the team climb back into the 'A'.

Alejandro (Chori) Dominguez was also recruited from Valencia CF in Spain.

Goalkeeper Chichizola has been effective.

Lucas Ocampos is a bright young prospect.

Matias looks on in approval.

River shares top spot with Instituto de Cordoba, an interesting team. Here are some pics from the October 15th match against them.

Date: 2011-11-14 02:05 am (UTC)I know...I tried to find a stream but NONE was available! I tried to IM you but got nothing in response! It is okay now, but I'm not sure what the problem was before. I have read rumours that some group has threatened to hack Toronto and prevent our i-net usage for some political reason! :(
So, of course, River lost without me there to encourage them! And at the Monumental as well, for frig's sake! But they are still in first place (tied), so next week they must win! :(
Last night I watched Once Caldas destroy America de Cali 4-0. Once Caldas is a much different team from the one of last year that was in the Copa Lib. They have some younger guys now...I saw at least 4 hotfuckers on the team. :P
OMG!!!!! Argentina has called up GASTON PEZZUTI!!!!! I've said for A YEAR now that he should be called up for Argentina! And I had called for Dorlan Pabon to be called up for Colombia...and both have been ! So today I called for Luis Muriel because he almost was top scorer in the U-20 WC if Colombia hadn't gone out early! I do sometimes pick the right players!!!! :)))))))))

Gaston Pezzuti? The goalie who plays in Colombia? I guess the goalie is the last problem Argentina has.
We all have sometimes the right ideas....

Date: 2011-11-15 11:43 am (UTC)This past weekend was strange in Colombia. There seems to have been only the one game, which they showed on TV. Maybe it was a make-up game that had to be played. I know that either team (Once Caldas or America) had a chance to make the top 8 for the playoffs. Once Caldas did that by beating America. All the teams are so close! Plus this season is one for relegation/promotion and all teams are trying harder!
Yeah...Pezzuti is the Nacional GK who made the 3 penalty saves last season to win the league. I thought he should have been called up because of his form (back then) and now his form is NOT that good! LOL @ Argentina stupidity!

Date: 2011-11-15 02:36 pm (UTC)The Once Caldas vs America match was from round 12. Next round (fecha 15) will be played midweek 16 and 17 nov. (Equidad - Millos)
The league system in Colombia is a bit different. Their 'season' goes for a year, from January to December and at the end we have the relegated and the winner teams. Millos is already qualified for the Copa Sud next year!
I hate all the different systems! It's too stupid!
Maybe Pezzuti is better than the others...
