On my flist,
aglaiya has been doing some wonderful updates for us of the various qualifying games in South America. I've also been collecting pics, but since a lot of them are identical to hers, I thought I'd just do a post to celebrate some of my favourite teams involved, and showcase some of my favourite players. (I've probably missed a few, so please forgive me.)
First of all, Argentina. LOL.

LOL @ Roman's seriousness.

Next: Brazil's Dani Alves. He's my favourite Brazilian by far.

I like Robinho too.

Bolivia: they don't have a chance, but this is Marcelo Martins, a real cutie.

Chile. They're so cute, one of my favourite teams that probably won't make it.
Gary Medel and GK Claudio Bravo.

LOL. This pic just kills me. I have no idea what Humberto Suazo was doing this for.

Mark Gonzalez. I think he's injured again.

Colombia. Radamel Falcao Garcia. I've watched two interviews with him and was stunned by how much he sounds like Fernando Gago when he's talking.♥
Oh. And Colombia is in third place at the moment, behind Paraguay (#1) and Argentina (#2). The top five South American teams will qualify.

This is Hugo Rodallega.

Mexico (CONCACAF). Andres Guardado. How sweet is he, and what a wonderful player.

Paraguay. Roque Santa Cruz and Paulo Dossantos share a joke.

Roque celebrates.

Julio Caceres and Paulo Dasilva celebrate.

Roque and Nelson Valdez.

Salvador Cabanas.

Peru. They are in a crisis of sorts. This is Juan Vargas with the doctor.

Paolo Guerrero training.

Uruguay. I hope they qualify. They have a good chance, with a lot of great players, but they're only seventh in the standings, I think. They can improve, though.
Diego Forlan.

Sebastian Abreu.

Diego Lugano.

Luis Suarez.

Carlos Bueno.

Guatemala (CONCACAF). Carlos Ruiz and teammates celebrate.

Venezuela. Doing better than expected.

Jose Rey.

Ecuador (CONCACAF) training. Luis Saritima.

Ecuador is a big, strong team and will likely qualify. Here are some players from LDUQ, who are in the finals of the Copa Libertadores.

Honduras. (Also CONCACAF). This is Kevin Hernandez, the GK. (He reminds me of Memo Ochoa.)

Date: 2008-06-19 02:15 am (UTC)I checked YouTube for the Falcao interview, but it was on GolTV news (both of them, actually). On You Tube I found these two, and there are more too, I think.

I like to cover all the games, except for teams I hate, but there aren't many of those.

Date: 2008-06-21 07:33 am (UTC)Of course I loved the Chile pics, especially the Gary Medel one... it's very slashy!
One of our great players and by far my favorite of the national team is Carlos Villanueva, but sadly he didn't played on the last qualifiers matchs.
Muchas gracias :)
