I HATE TRAVELING DAYS!

TRAVELING DAYS are what I call the ones that you spend in airports and on airplanes, or possibly trains/buses or whatever, but most of the day is spent traveling and you pretty much can't do anything else.
Well, today for me was Traveling Day from Hell. First, I was all nervous and I couldn't sleep too well last night so I stayed up late and got up early this morning. And decided to go to the airport early, just in case there was a traffic jam on the way there or something. BIG mistake!!!
The flight from Bilbao was delayed because of a bad snowstorm in Paris. (What else does it EVER do in Paris???) :( We actually sat on the plane for over an hour waiting, waiting, and waiting until the pilot got clearance to take off!
Btw, it was about 20 degrees C in Bilbao, sunny and warm. And green, of course. Beautiful, beautiful green. What a contrast to Paris, which was just COVERED in snow but it had stopped snowing, thank god. Except that ALL the flights were affected. We got into Paris too late for me to catch my connecting flight to Berlin. The next Air France flight was due to leave at 6:15 PM. At this time it was about 4:15 (or it might even have been later) and I said, "Oh, that's not too bad!"
But THAT flight got delayed too, and ended up leaving finally at 7:45 PM instead of 6:15!!! I finally got into Berlin at around 9:30, took a taxi to my hotel and the first thing I did was order room service because I noticed they had tapas, the next best thing to pintxos!!!! Nom. Nom. I've just finished eating them (they were GOOD) and now I'm making this post. The hotel is really, really nice. It's the NH Berlin. I had stayed in the NH Schipol in Amsterdam last year, so I knew how nice these hotels were.
OK I'm knackered and I'm babbling about uninteresting stuff now. So I'm going to bed and see what's on TV. I have a million comments and stuff to reply to, which I am dying to get to but will have to wait until tomorrow. XDDD AND I can't believe I'm not in Bilbao anymore! It's too sad and heartbreaking. But I don't want to dwell on it. Suffice to say that while aboard the first flight I had a little nap and for some reason dreamt about Javi Martinez! XD
Good night everyone, from Berlin! ♥
EDIT: I think I spent about 11 hours today just waiting around at 2 airports, and less than 4 hours flying. O_O

Date: 2010-12-07 10:49 pm (UTC)Anyway, I'm glad to hear you arrived safely in the end and weren't too knackered! And I had to snicker when you mentioned the tapas! Dude, ever since I tried them the first time, I can't get enough of them. I actually bought myself three cookbooks for tapas just so I won't ever run out of ideas. XD (And I can't wait to get pintxo recipes from Iratxe! :D)
And don't be too sad about having had to leave Bilbao. I know perfectly well how much it hurts, but YOU SHALL COME BACK! :D
(You dreamt about Javi Martínez? *is very very interested and also a bit envious* XD)

Date: 2010-12-09 08:04 am (UTC)OMG did Iratxe tell you that her mother has a 500-page recipe book for pintxos? It's a pdf file that someone printed out. It sounds positively awesome. I was looking online for recipes as well and found a few that were very similar to some of the pintxos I ate!
Oh yes, you can be VERY sure I WILL come back to Bilbao!!!!♥♥♥
(OMG yes, I dreamt about Javi while the side of my head was pressed to the airplane next to the window!) He was dressed in the exact same sexy clothes he was wearing at Lezama when I saw him. He and I were talking about all sorts of things and when I said I wanted to stay because I was in love with Bilbao, he turned and indicated the open field with a sweep of his arm. I'm sure there was more but I remember vividly the sound of his voice and the very warm, cuddly feeling I got from that dream. Nothing too sexy (except for Javi himself) but that's alright. It was still good! XDDDD

OMG, that Javi dream! How adorable! It's exactly how I'd imagine him to be. Ah, I love him. :)

Date: 2010-12-09 09:32 am (UTC)I also need to get some of those recipes from Iratxe!!! I'm pretty sure I told her I want them!!!
Oh god, Bill, I miss Bilbao and the Athletic guys so much already! I was feeling the pang of regret this morning that I was so overwhelmed at Lezama and didn't pose for pics with Javi and Llorente! (It would have been awesome to get them both to pose with me at the same time...one of them on either side. Although they didn't come out of the dressing room together...in fact, Javi came first and Llorente made his entrance at the end!!!) I keep looking at the pics Iratxe took on my camera and...gahhhhh...I want to go back!!!!! *sobs*

Date: 2010-12-08 03:04 pm (UTC)Enjoy Berlin! I loved it when I visited in 2005 with work. We were on a culinary expedition - with the restaurant and bar crew - and Berlin has some extraordinary restaurants. Plus the sightseeing is amazing, so much history in this city. Have fun!

Date: 2010-12-09 07:52 am (UTC)My first day in Berlin was great. Very enjoyable despite the fact it was snowing the whole time. Took a tram and walked some as well. Went to the Brandenburg Gate, looked at some of the Christmas markets, stopped for coffee and then had a nice, relaxing dinner. I didn't want to do too much on the first day.
Came back to the hotel and watched an Argentine football match on my laptop! LOL.
