MATIAS ALMEYDA
Date of Birth: 21 December 1973
in Azul, Argentina
Defensive midfielder for River Plate.

Smaller Matias Almeyda

The Jon Bon Jovi lookalike has played for many clubs in his career, in Europe and in Argentina.

Almeyda started out with River Plate, then moved to Sevilla in Spain, but left when the club was relegated in 1997. He went to Italy to play with Lazio, then Parma, Inter Milan and Brescia before moving back to Argentina, where he went to Quilmes. After that, back to Europe with FK Lyn in Norway, then back to Argentina again where he played with 4th division club Fenix. Finally, he came back to his home club, River Plate. Matias appeared in the 1998 and 2002 World Cups for Argentina.

He was travelling a lot *smiles*

He is good for River but not an eyecatcher for me.

He doesn't even come close to El Loco Abreu, but yeah, he did move around a lot. LOL.

River needs guys like him and Ortega. It's too bad he's getting older, but it's fantastic that he is still around and playing well.

Really? I find him very attractive, in a clean-looking way. I love my 'dirty' guys too, but someone like Almeyda is a refreshing change at times. :)

Teams need players like him! You're totally right!

You know some players getting better the longer they are playing *smiles*

He isn't ugly... but he doesn't have the 'special' thing for me ;)

He will never stop being perfect to me. He's one of those players that are good all around: talented, great personalities, humble, etc. Like Pupi. I remember being 9 years old and being in love with them. I want him to do well even if he's playing for River. With so many mercenaries and unprofessional players nowadays... I'm just thankful people like him are still in football.
And I'd hit it SO HARD.

It's so nice to know that the truly decent, humble players are still out there. Not to mention the guys that care about the teams they play for.

And I also find him terribly attractive. *gnaws fist*

Me too. Big River fan.
Awww...Almeyda is so fantastic.
I hope he will not be out for too long. (I don't think his injury is too bad.) :)

Ah, Matías Almeyda! :D I still remember that day when I first watched that "Pazza Inter" video from 2002 (I think) and spotted this absolutely gorgeous guy that looked a bit like Micho (or at least that was what I thought - the picture quality of the vid wasn't that good XD). Of course by then I had missed his entire career in Europe, but I'm glad he's still playing, and especially because he's playing at River. :)

Thanks for the awesome pics!

Yes, yes, Matias Almeyda could be Micho's brother! They do have a similar look. He reminds me of Jon Bon Jovi as well (when he was younger of course). XDDD

You're welcome! :)
