The score was 2-0 for Peru and could easily have been 4-0. Canada is awful. :(
There was NO Claudio Pizarro or Paolo Guerrero for Peru either! Otherwise it could possibly have been a rout.
The Toronto CN Tower and skyline. The game has just got started.

It was a thrill to be able to go to my first international match and to have such great seats. We were in Row 3 (that's only three rows away from the pitch), behind the Canadian bench. It was in a small section of Peruvian supporters. In the row in front of us and beside me were a group of Peru fangirls, holding up banners and signs, and they were clearly Juan Vargas fangirls. Whenever he appeared close to us (which was often) they stood, screamings, "Vargas! Vargas!" and held up their signs and banners. There was a photographer stationed right below them who took pictures of them every time they started screaming and no doubt I was in the photos too, because I was right behind them. I've looked, but haven't found any yet. LOL.
Okay, some notable players and my comments. Yes, Vargas is hot. He has an amazing build, kind of stocky but it's a good thing he never took his shirt off because his muscles would be to die for and I couldn't have taken the fangirls screaming.
Jefferson Farfan was there! OMG it was so amazing to see him in person! And he's so good...he was so much better than almost everyone else on the pitch. Peru just outclassed Canada in so many ways. We have so much work to do. *facepalm*
Another hottie was #20 for Peru...Jose Carlos Fernandez. He plays for Deportivo Quito in Ecuador and scored one of the two goals yesterday. The other was scored by Jean Tragodora of Alianza Lima.
#4 was built as well...nice and solid. His name is Walter Vilchez and he plays for Alianza Lima. They are a good team...the Peru NT has three players from there, all talented.
Here's a list of Peru's notable players:
#3 - Santiago Acasiete - plays for UD Almeria in Spain
#4 - Walter Vilchez - plays for Alianza Lima
#7 - Juan Manuel Vargas - plays for Fiorentina in Italy - is Captain
#13 - Carlos Zambrano - plays for Sankt Pauli in Germany
#10 - Josepmir Ballon - plays for River Plate in Argentina
#11 - Jean Tragodora - plays for Alianza Lima
#17 - Jefferson Farfan - plays for Schalke 04 in Germany
#20 - Jose Carlos Fernandez - plays for Deportivo Quito
And Canada's notable players: (We seem to have a few playing in Germany and for the League Championship in England.)
#7 - Paul Stalteri - plays for Borussia Moenchengladbach
#5 - Kevin McKenna - plays for FC Koln
#12 - Jaime Peters - plays for Ipswich Town
#11 - Issey Nakajima-Farran - plays in Denmark
#6 - Juan De Guzman - plays for TFC (used to play for Deportivo La Coruna in Spain)
#14 - Dwayne DeRosario - plays for TFC
#15 - Josh Simpson - plays for Manisaspor in Turkey
#13 - Marcel De Jong - plays for FC Augsburg
#9 - Rob Friend - plays for Hertha Berlin
#10 - Simeon Jackson - plays for Norwich City (he was awarded a trophy for being Canada's best player in 2009)
#17 - Iain Hume - plays for Barnsley
Now here are my pics from the match. The fangirls messed me up a few times and blocked some really good shots I would have taken. But otherwise they are not too bad despite the fact my camera is old and I really need a new one.
The match has just got started here.

And here.

There is Vargas, chased by Paul Stalteri.

Here's a whole bunch of notable players. #10 Canada is Josepmir Ballon, #7 Paul Stalteri, Vargas is behind him.

Vargas is about to take a free kick.

Vargas in action.

Man down. It got very cloudy but only rained for a couple of minutes.

De Guzman fights the Peru hunk for the ball.

A Peruvian lady with her hat.

The fangirls with their banners.

Oh yeah...this was a TV crew from Peru, who came and stood right in front of us and did a show from the stands. The host was an older man in a suit...I have no idea who he is.

Walter Vilchez, the hunk, is about to take a throw-in.

It's half-time and the boys come off.

Here come a whole bunch of cuties.

This is when Vargas got subbed off. There was much screaming.

Here you can see Rodriguez, #20. I really like him. :) And Farfan in the middle.

Okay, game is over. I tried to get some good shots but most of the time the fangirls blocked me.

This is Issey Nakajima-Farran of Canada. He is a hottie and he knows it. Just before he was subbed on he stood up in front of the bench to change his clothes. I was transfixed by his body and his tan, and by the time I realized I should have gotten my camera out, he was coming on.

This is Rob Friend coming off.

Jefferson Farfan waves to the fans as he is leaving.

This is Peru's goalkeeper. He was really hot too, and young. Damn the fangirls for making me move and the pic turned out blurry!

This is Jamie.

A view of the stadium from after we left and turned around to look back. We were just heading into the Food Building to get something to eat.

Another view.

Okay, that's it!♥

Date: 2010-09-05 10:02 pm (UTC)You're welcome. I wish I had had a really good camera and then I would have got better pics, being so close to the players! It was so exciting! XDDD

Date: 2010-09-05 10:13 pm (UTC)It's always very good to watch a team live! It's so very atmospheric!!!
*lol* @ being interested in the Peru team!

Date: 2010-09-06 10:20 am (UTC)You are right about the atmosphere. I felt like I was in Peru. The fans were joyful and friendly just like the Colombian fans were. And the footballers played very 'honest', which is something I like and appreciate.
LOL. They were a very likeable and 'hot' team. I would see them again! XD

Date: 2010-09-06 10:44 pm (UTC)I know...no Paolo or Pizzale, yet they had Farfan and Vargas, and the Alianza Lima guy! They were FINE. XD

"Jefferson Farfan was there! OMG it was so amazing to see him in person! And he's so good...he was so much better than almost everyone else on the pitch."
Yay!!! So happy for him :D Esp. since Magath was giving him stick for his national-team callup before he left Germany -.-

Date: 2010-09-06 10:15 am (UTC)Thank you, but with a better camera I could have got terrific pictures. Once I get myself a good camera with a zoom lens, I hope I can get such good seats again. :)
Well, it's true this was only a friendly, but it was nice to see some of Peru's best players there. I guess some of the players want to make it onto the NT permanently, so it's an opportunity for them to show their stuff.
Ugh...Magath is such a downer. :(

Date: 2010-09-06 10:13 am (UTC)It's not that we don't have some good players...we do.
But it's the way they play...so basic. Nobody wanted to take a chance and break out, do something different. There was no spark. Okay, it was just a friendly, but Peru managed to come alive and generate some really good offense in the second half, even without their two 'biggest' strikers. They created some nice plays, were exciting to watch, and it paid off.
*sigh* Come on Canada! If we want to compete we are going to have to do better than this. :(

Date: 2010-09-07 04:46 pm (UTC)Thanks for sharing these photos & the experience! :D It looked like loads of fun. I could only watch from a crappy live stream LOL. Anyway, so happy for my heritage team (Peru) <3
