bonorattle gave me "S". This was a tough one because there are so many songs that start with 'S'.

So I chose 5 classics. They are:

1. Samba Pa Ti - Santana - The film 'El Lobo' which had one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard had this on it. It's haunted me ever since.

2. Sweet Emotion - Aerosmith - music to fall in love by.

3. Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin - music to get high by.

4. Shambala - 3 Dog Night - music to have sex by.

5. Spirit of Radio - Rush - Canada's best ever group and a fantastic feel-good concert song.

Cool meme and very good song choices. Ah, Rush is one of the best bands of the world... they'll do a South American tour around october/november and I really hope to see them live in Chile this time. Would be so awesome!

My first two songs are by the same band, a folk group called Show of Hands, who are from Exmouth (about 10 miles from here).
1. Cousin Jack - about Cornish miners in the 19th Century.
2. Cold Frontier - about the Roman legacy in England.

The rest aren't quite as local!
3. Conquest of Paradise by Vangelis.
4. Canto Alla Vita by Amici Forever.
5. Catch the Wind by Donovan.

Very interesting. I will have to check out 'Show of Hands' since I don't believe I have heard them before.

But I absolutely adore 'Conquest of Paradise' - I have it on a CD somewhere - and 'Catch the Wind' is an old favourite - a very sweet song.

'Canto Alla Vita' sounds familiar - I will go to find it on Youtube. :)
