OMG, I've experienced my first ever EARTHQUAKE!!!

It was pretty freaky...I was sitting in front of my computer with the TV on to my right. The floor started rumbling under my feet and everything was shaking. I couldn't look at the computer screen because it made my eyes buggy. I immediately wondered if it was an earthquake so I got up and went downstairs and looked outside to see if anything had happened out there. Nothing...I didn't think anything more of it but then my husband came home and asked me if I had heard about it.

Like, WOW. It was a very strange feeling!

Wow, that sounds scary! I've never experienced an earthquake, so I can't even imagine how it must be! Glad nothing major happened and you're all safe!

Jenni isn't it the most weird feeling ever, we had an earthquake here about 3yrs ago in the middle of the night, I remember waking up with my bed shaking and feeling like someone was pulling me out of it and the house bricks were making this bizarre clanking sound, tbh I thought I was dreaming until my Dad was shouting was I okay. We put the news on but there was nothing and then about 30mins later they started reporting on an earthquake and it turned out the epicentre was not far from where we live.

I am glad you are safe and okay :)

Yes, it was really odd! Oh my, yours sounds like a BIG one. Ours was only 5.5 and in some places 4.9 from what I've read. But we're not used to it! My husband's sister lives in San Francisco. She's experienced the monster they had some years ago that caused one of their bridges to collapse and the World Series baseball playoffs had to be suspended that year! Fortunately nobody in her family was hurt!

Thanks. It only took a few seconds so if it had been a really big earthquake there wouldn't have been time to get out of the way. LOL.

Oh man, it was so weird! I was sleeping and couldn't figure out who on earth was shaking my bed because I was home alone. I sit up and the closet doors and my windows were rattling too. Sooo weird! After it stopped, I wondered if it could've been an earthquake but thought there was no way.

I can't believe it happened--very random.

Yeah, I know! We hardly ever seem to get earthquakes here. Not big ones anyway, that you can feel. It was so weird. It was the first one I've ever felt.

Thank you! Yes, it all happened really fast. I wondered if it was a quake but when it stopped I didn't think about it again until someone told me there had been an earthquake!

Yes, we are fine here. Since Olivia went back to Montreal yesterday I e-mailed her to see if she was OK because it was felt there as well. Haven't heard back from her yet, but I don't want the baby born early because of this...it could happen!

I still haven't heard back from Olivia! She'd better not be in the hospital!

She's okay! She e-mailed me. She was busy when she got home and didn't have a chance to call me or anything. *hugs*

Glad to read that you and your family are fine. I have to confess that I'm a little scared of quakes right now because I've lived my first one this year too... on past february, an 8.8 earthquake ._.

*hugs* :)

Wow, both awesome and scary! I'm glad it wasn't a huge one and you are ok! Being from NZ earthquakes were a part of life for me, I actually miss them now I'm living somewhere they don't happen! Of course I don't like ones that are too big, but the small ones are quite fun for me, lol. The biggest one I ever felt was a 7 and I was sleeping on the ground in a tent!!!!! Suuuch a weird feeling, I could actually feel the ground moving like water beneath me. o.O;;

Yes, thank goodness my first earthquake was not a major one!
Oh really! So they occur in New Zealand quite a lot? That was something I didn't know.
That feeling of having the earth move beneath you is quite unsettling, isn't it?
