MY FAVOURITE PICS FROM THE PAST WEEK
May. 14th, 2008 07:14 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
This past weekend saw the final games for a few leagues. The Premiership and Bwin Liga in Portugal both finished their seasons, with Rui Costa hanging up his playing boots in order to join Benfica's management. The Bundesliga and La Liga still have a game or two to go before they're done, but the past weekend's games resulted in some teams being relegated. Here, then, are my favourite pics from the weekend. All pics from yahoo sports.com.
First up: Bundesliga. Schalke players celebrate their win. If Werder Bremen had lost, Schalke would have ended up second, with the automatic Champions League berth. They are in third place and in the qualifying rounds of the CL.

Ivan Rakitic reacts.

Bayern Munich players celebrate.

Micho shoots. (Nice technique! XD)

Blagoy Georgiev looks dejected while Bayern players celebrate in background. His team, Duisberg, has just been relegated.

Cologne players celebrate. Their team is promoted.

Now on to Spain and some of my favourite teams. XD
Fernando Llorente of Athletic Bilbao watches the ball.

Aritz Aduriz, a great header of the ball, goes up for one.

Aritz Aduriz gets fouled.

Mallorca's goalkeeper, Moya, reacts.

Sevilla players celebrate.

Diego Capel on the ball.

Fazio scores another goal since being moved to midfield!!!

A fight breaks out between Sevilla and Real Betis players.

Some players get sent off.

Real Madrid's Wesley Snejder vs Fabian Ayala of Zaragoza.

Sergio Garcia of Zaragoza tries to slip one past Iker Casillas.

Pablo Aimar tries to slip one past Diarra.

Zaragoza players celebrate.

Barcelona players celebrate.

Leo Messi and Frank Rijkaard shake hands.

Now on to Portugal. Something weird happened in the Portuguese league this season. Some teams were punished for some match-fixing that happened back in 2003-2004. But since an investigation just finished, it was decided to punish those teams NOW, that were involved back then. FC Porto was docked six points for their part in the scandal, but still remain champions because of their huge point differential. Boavista, who were in 9th place in the league, have been relegated, even though they were nowhere near the relegation zone.
Here, some Boavista players react.

Miguel Veloso of Sporting Lisbon looks back on the final game. Is the young right back destined for Manchester United, as the rumours have it?

Miguel celebrates with playmaker Joao Moutinho.

Rui Costa of Benfica salutes the crowd on the day of his retirement as a player.

The fans embrace Rui Costa.

On to Italy. Things are rather interesting there. Inter Milan blew their chance to seal their standing at the top of the league. Julio Cruz reacts.

This is Inter's Chilean player, Luis Garces. XD

Francesco Totti with his little son Cristian.XD

Marek Hamsik of Napoli celebrates, Pato style.

OMG. I've never, ever seen Kaka "lose it" during a game, as he seemed to do here. Yikes!

And he gets a yellow card!

Lastly, to the Premiership. Tottenham vs Liverpool. XDDDD

OMG. Mauro Zarate of Birmingham City has shaved his head! Maybe it brought bad luck, since Birmingham got relegated! :(

Middlesbrough players celebrate.

Tuncay Sanli of Middlesbrough vs Michael Ball of Manchester City.

Manchester City fans show their support for Sven. Rumours have linked Sven with Benfica! XD

I lied! That is not last! Lastly, here are pics of Becks with the LA Galaxy. XD His legs look skinny in those short socks!
