WIGAN ATHLETIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHO ARE YA????????????????????????????
At one point Wigan was down at the bottom of the table. It looked really hopeless for them. Their star striker, Hugo Rodallega, was out injured and it seemed all was lost and they'd go down for sure this season. I even believed it myself and feel quite ashamed that I did not BELIEVE in my team over that relatively short period of time.
I don't have all the facts at hand because I'm rushing this post, but how many games has Wigan won in a row to ensure their safety? Lots! And they've beat some of the best: Manchester United and Arsenal to name two! Last year they left it to the last minute as well, in fact, to the final day of matches, when Hugo Rodallega scored a winner that kept the team up for another year. But they finished in 17th place, which is the last safe place in the league. This year, however, the team has been stronger than it's been since Antonio Valencia and Wilson Palacios were Wigan players. With Rodallega out, others have stepped up. Most notably, Franco Di Santo, Victor Moses, Maynor Figueroa, Antolin Alcaraz (who scored tonight's winner) and the wonderful Shaun Maloney. I've always thought Ali Al-Habsi was a top goalkeeper as well. (I have him on my Twitter even though I don't know Arabic and can't read a word of it.) If I have missed any other worthy players, I apologize.
Anyway, a big, hearty CONGRATS to my lovely, lovely Wigan!
I feel quite bad for Blackburn, because they are relegated as of tonight, and I like the team. But relegation is not the end of the world. Look at West Ham. Heck, look at Newcastle!
Anyway, onto some pics from the last two matches.
The players congratulating Antolin Alcaraz for the win:

And yes, I still like Spurs and Liverpool and will post about them sometime later. :)
