KIDS AND GROWING
Jan. 31st, 2012 06:02 amOne thing I've noticed with Sean over the years is his sporadic growth development. It's different from that of my two older kids (who are now fully grown, but I remember).
Sean tends to stay the same size for a very long time, especially in footwear. This is the third year for his winter boots, for which I consider myself lucky, because my two older ones used to grow out of theirs so quickly that I'd pray I would not have to go shopping for new boots before the winter was even over.
But Sean has been the same shoe size for at least two years, which I find really odd. In clothing, too, he wears a smaller size than my kids used to wear throughout their childhood. Both Olivia and Jamie always wore at least one size above their age: for instance, when Olivia was 5 years old she's wear size 6 or 6x, and when Jamie was 8 he'd wear a size 10. Sean is currently 9 years old and wears size 8 shirts, but since he is still quite thin, he can get away with size 7 pants still. And he must always wear pants with elasticized waist, otherwise they'd fall down. He has no hips or tummy to hold them up. I usually buy sweat pants or similar, with drawstrings.
Yesterday I finally had to run to the sports warehouse outlet store across from where I work, at lunch-time, to pick up some new socks for Sean. He is finally outgrowing his old shoes/socks and at this time of year everything is on sale, so I am toying with buying him new boots as well. And they had this awesome winter jacket for $20, marked down from $109.99 when it first came out. ;) In fact, they had tons of great deals - I'm going back today to get more stuff. :)
