SOME NEWS AND VIEWS FROM BILBAO
Dec. 5th, 2010 03:18 amWhile I am very sorry that two of my friends could not join me here in Bilbao I have been blessed by being able to meet
xurda87, a fantastic girl from near Bilbao, who took me on a walking tour of the city. I saw some incredible things and made some important discoveries. There is this building that blew me away because it has no other purpose than to house a lift which takes you up to the top of a hill from which there is an amazing view of Bilbao. It is also connected to a walkway that takes you to a football stadium...only amateur but there was a match going on which we went in to take a look at. The kind lady at the gate waived the 6 euro fee for us and let me take some pictures. The football pitch looked very old and for me it was a fascinating view of something we don't have at home. Football pitches yes, but ancient ones, no. There also was a beautiful pathway leading around the hilltop and a place where you can sit and look at the amazing view. Again, I took lots of photos!
xurda87 showed me where the tourist office is. It just opened now, so I will go there in a minute to buy a tourist ticket/pass thing. And we passed the Museo Vasco, the Basque Museum that I want to visit as well. It opens 2 hours after the tourist office. (I wrote down all the Sunday hours.) XDDD Then at 1:00 PM I will meet my new Basque friend to go to San Mames, which is open from 1000 - 1400 today.
There is lots more that we did yesterday...I got to eat a pintxo! One was very filling and all I could handle! We went on the Metro train and I was very impressed by how clean and modern it is. I could go on and on but when I get home I'll make a post with photos and go over everything then!
Suffice to say I am happy now and looking forward to doing some more fun things here in this beautiful city. :)
