LES MISERABLES

While I love a great variety of books, this one moved me the most and had the most long-lasting effect afterwards. I even was co-mod for a reading and discussion comm called [livejournal.com profile] reading_lesmiz.

It was a tough choice between this and 'The Count of Monte Cristo' which was another old favourite.

I still think Les Miserable is of a slightly other order, but it's very much open for interpretation.

Well, I think you are right. 'Les Miserables' is on a much higher level than 'Count of Monte Cristo', but I enjoyed 'Cristo' so much when I read it years ago, for its action and excitement and for the pure joy of escape that it gave me. Those two are really two old favourites of mine. And there are so many more...*sigh* It's hard to choose only one! (Or two.)

I can only admire your courage to even being able to choose.
So many books, so many ages, circumstances, memories...
