I love Colombian football! It is laid-back compared to the Argentine league, and the players seem to have the most imaginative and hilarous celebrations. The ways they can think of in which to celebrate are mind-boggling. Once, a player ran to the sideline where he had a partner waiting (just in case he scored!) with a tambourine. The goalscorer grabbed it and began to sing and play it while doing a little dance. When he was done, he handed it back to his friend and ran back onto the pitch. Awesome. Anyway, my favourite team in Colombia is Deportivo Cali. They won either the Apertura or Clausura in 2005 (I'm not sure which) but since then they haven't done very well. Never mind. They are an attractive team, wear green and white (my favourite uniform colours) and a lot of the players look almost identical, with nice tans, long dark hair held back with white headbands, and pretty faces. That is, until this year! The Apertura 2008 has just started and I heard that the long-haired players have been forced to cut their hair and they can no longer wear their headbands. WTF is that all about? Is it a reverse Sampson thing the team's official's dreamed up? I'm sorry guys, but if you want the team to improve you will have to get them working harder, not make them cut their hair!!!
