The little things are the hardest to remember, not only to put into the story but to remember what they were! My book on writing says it's a good idea to start each day going over what you've done so far by keeping a journal of anything new, and also the main outline.
When we were in the Pergamon (and in a museum in Conimbriga, Portugal in 2007) I saw grooming tools from very early times! Things like combs & brushes and scissors have not changed over all this time! They must have had shaving stuff always... ;)
