I feel really bad that I haven`t had time the past couple of weeks to post a proper Schalke picspam. The team has been doing some preseason training and playing friendlies during the off-season. They recently played in a friendly match against Dutch team Vitesse Arnhem last weekend, and prior to that Schalke was in the Middle East, making stops in Doha, Qatar.

Here are some interesting pics:

Raul went down a coal mine.

Actually, the boys recently visited a coal mine in Marl, Germany. Here are a few more pics.

Benni and Metze. I almost didn`t recognize them!

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar

Lars Unnerstall kind of looks like he belongs!

Last weekend the boys played a match against Vitesse Arnhem in Aachen. Here are some photos from that:

Okay, now, the team also spent some time in Doha, Qatar. Looks like they had some fun in the sun. Here, Benni Hoewedes makes Christian Fuchs get into a wading pool. XD

As Lewis Holtby looks on.

And they played against Al-Sadd in Doha.

RIVAL TEAM WARNING!!!!

But this is the `AWWWW` pic of the day, and it features two ex-Schalke players!

Also, in transfer news, I heard that Roman Neustaedter from Borussian Moenchengladbach will be joining Schalke in this transfer window. I haven`t checked lately to see if it is true, but if so, I`d be happy. I`ve noticed him on the pitch and he`s a very good player. (Not to mention eye candy, which was hard not to notice either.) ;P

woot woot! :D

"Raul went down a coal mine." No, no:
"Raul went down a coal mine AND LOOKED LIKE A MODEL!" XD

"Lars Unnerstall kind of looks like he belongs!"
Apparently, his grandfather is/was a miner, too, and he has friends who work in mines.

I wonder if that was just a random shot or if he was actually bowing at someone

And the pic of Höger right below that Uchida bowing one: Whoever cuts Schalke's hair needs to stop. Baumjohann, Holtby, Metzelder, and Benni had the same hair, too. Thankfully, only Höger and Baumi remain.

Papadopoulos, you're insane XD

Moritz! He exists! :D

That's such a cute pic :3

Matip's all like, "wait, what?"

That pic of Neuer and Rafinha is so cute!

"I haven`t checked lately to see if it is true"
It's true. But he'll only join starting with the 2012-2013 season; he'll finish this season at Gladbach.

Heheheheeee....Raul does look a bit too good for being down a mine, doesn't he? XD

Unnerstall's grandfather was really a miner? No wonder he looks like he belongs! LOL

I thought Uchida was really bowing...but it's hard to tell from the pic only. :/

The hair! I know...I thought those onion hairstyles were OVER! :(

Papadopoulos seriously needs to tone it down. :)))

LOTS of cute pics! Too many to post ALL. I don't know. :)

It makes more sense to have Neustaedter start next season. I'd feel bad for Bor. M'Gladbach if he transferred now. Same goes for Marco Reus, if the rumours of his departure are true as well. :(

Reus already signed with BVB. But like Neudstaedter, he'll only be joining them in the summer. Reus was going to sign with bayern, but he wanted a guaranteed starting place (considering Bayern, SMART GUY!) and of course they said "no we never do that" so he said see ya! and signed for Dortmund. He does come from Dortmund anyway, so it's "back home" for him.

I love that story about Reus!! ;)

Since he's got the same management agency as Benni, I can only hope that next time Benni goes stupid and wants to switch to Bayern, they'll advise him similarly. Ugh, I really hope he doesn't go there :( he'd just be sitting on the bench; they just want good subs. Let other teams in the league keep their good players!

Oh no, I sincerely hope that someone knocks some sense into Benni's head and keeps him from trying to join Bayern! :(((((

I am so excited about the return tonight of the Bundesliga! The Borussian Moenchengladbach/Bayern game will be on TV in an hour and a half! XDDD

Hahahaha! GREAT icon! :)))))

Seriously :| *wants to go there herself and knock some sense into him*
I'm afraid he's going to go there sooner or later (why can't he go anywhere else? :|) I've always just hoped that by the time that happens, I will have stopped caring :/ :(

ooo enjoy the game! :D

hahaha thanks XD he kinda looks like a traffic control/roadwork alert thingie flashing like that XD

I agree with you about Raul! I do hope he extends his contract too! :) I think he suits Schalke very well. :)

All signs point to that he will. He says he definitely wants to stay, they just need to fine tune the details of the contract, and they'll do that this month. His family's happy there, too, which he says is the most important factor for him.

I love Raul and miss him so much...Real Madrid doesn't seem to have anyone that viably replaces as Captain IMO. I love Iker but really it is not the same. Those coal mine pics make me laugh - they make me think of those school trips you loved going on just to get out of "school". LOL

Me too...I love Raul and miss him at RM. He seems perennially 29. I can't imagine him aging, just as I couldn't imagine him fitting in at a German team. But he is doing so amazingly well at Schalke and seems an inspiration to his teammates, that I am completely in awe of him. Schalke seems a great fit for him, though, because it's a team that has undergone many changes, yet has stayed the same. It has it own 'style', which Real Madrid does also, and I think that's the secret why Raul has done so well there. Smart guy, leaving RM for a team that suits him almost as much. :)
