FOOTBALL PLAYER SENT OFF FOR GENITAL PIERCING

I thought this was hilarious when I came across it.

The video doesn't show you much, though. I love how everyone else seemed to find this amusing except for the player himself and the referee.

The mystery intrigues me...how did the ref know about the piercing in the first place? And secondly, how would it possibly be a problem on the pitch?

Okay, thanks to "Who Ate All The Pies" I found this post-match video where the Australian player, Aaron Ecklestone, explains or tries to explain, how it happened. Unfortunately he seems to have imbibed one too many pints along with his mates, so it's a bit difficult to follow. But I did enjoy their banter.

how did the ref know about the piercing in the first place?
From what I understood someone kicked the ball into the player's groin (ouch!!) and he stayed down for so long that the ref wondered what was going on. He asked the player to allow him to make sure everything's in order down there, and then he discovered the piercing. So he sent him off. LMAO!

First idea: WTF???

Second: he should remove it while playing. It's his pain *lol* but I think it's not good for the match if he gets injured.

Third: I don't like such piercings.... poor guy who needs it to feel something! (you know I'm not prude)
