And these are some of the most spectacular photos, thanks to El Pais:

The first picture is scary. It looks like a bomb exploded. O_O

But the helicopter and the four pictures following it are stunning. :D

The rose is beautiful too. And it looks like it snowed. LOL

Yeah, it looks sort of like snow, but it's grey. My husband and I were caught once while on vacation and a volcano erupted a few hundred miles away. Ash rained on us too, but not as much as in these photos!

The ashes got here in the last couple of days! All flights cancelled...

It's a mammoth amount of ash, it seems. I feel so sorry for all those people stranded at the airports. Even driving out of there must be very difficult, with all the thick layers of ash on the roads. It's pretty sobering for sure. :(

Newell's had to go all the way to Bahía Blanca on a bus, lol!
But it's definitely worse for the towns next to the cordillera, they can't even get out of their houses, etc :/

I was wondering how a lot of people would be able to travel, including footballers! At least the buses are running! But yeah, all the towns close to the area would have had much more ash falling, and it's probably going to be a very long time before it can be cleared away. :(

Yeah, if you look at Primera, clubs don't really have to travel a lot, the only teams that imply a bit of traveling are Godoy Cruz, Ñuls, Colón, Olimpo. But when you think of second division, there's definitely a lot more traveling to do. I think a team had to go all the way to Comodoro Rivadavia by bus!!!

It's sad that Chile has been going through so much stuff lately :/ but the photos are amazing. Stuff like this http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm51/jenn8ferZ/NEWSWORTHY/CHILEVOLCANO-6.jpg is just like... wow!

I know! Poor Chile...it looks so pristine, but wild and untamed at the same time. I think it must be the way the country lies on the coast...that is not a good coast to live on, it would seem. Beautiful, yes, but dangerous also. :(

The photos were so beautiful I had to post some of them!

I have seen it on TV (its a miracle, our TV has shown something from South America, but instead of happy pics they show us pics of a catastrophe!)

These pics are stunning but I'm sad for the people who has to go thought all that shit!

The photos are a great way to record history, but I feel awful for the people! In all the pics they look like they are standing around helpless. Even the one of the bulldozer shovelling the ash shows you just how much there is to get rid of, and how long it will take. All comes to a halt...there are no flights, kids can't play in the playgrounds, people can't drive their cars. It's the devastation of nature. Beautiful in its own way, but deadly. :(

Agree!

The sadest: they can do nothing! The ash will fall down...

It is sad that it is so beautiful yet so destructive.
