THIS IS MY TEAM

Here is a special meme. For this meme you have to select 23 players for a team that is YOURS. You must select 3 goalkeepers, 2 right backs, 2 left backs, 4 central defenders, and a selection of 12 midfielders/forwards combinations. I chose 6 for the midfield and 6 forwards, but in truth one of my midfielders is actually a winger/forward and I made some other 'changes' too. You are allowed to play around a little bit. You might want to select only one left back, for instance, and add an extra central defender. It's up to you.
Anyway, here is my team. It was difficult because I left out many more players that I love. For instance, I didn't include ANY from Il Calcio or the Bundesliga, because there are far too many. ALL players are from some of my favourite teams from the various other leagues:
GOALKEEPERS: Oswaldo Sanchez (Santos, Mexico), Juan Ojeda (River Plate, Argentina) and Juan Pablo Carrizo (River Plate, Argentina).

RIGHT BACKS: Vedran Corluka (Tottenham Hotspur) and Rogelio Chavez (Cruz Azul, Mexico).

CENTRAL DEFENDERS: Leonel Galeano (Independiente, Argentina), Sebastian Coates (Nacional de Montevideo, Uruguay), Michael Dawson (Tottenham Hotspur) and Horacio Cervantes (Cruz Azul, Mexico).

LEFT BACKS: Martin Caceres (Sevilla FC, Spain) and Benoit Assou-Ekotto (Tottenham Hotspur, England).

MIDFIELDERS: Geovanny Hernandez (Atletico Junior, Colombia), Damian Alvarez (Tigres, Mexico), Lucas Mareque (Independiente, Argentina), Luka Modric (Tottenham Hotspur, England), Pedro Leon (Real Madrid, Spain) and Fabian Vargas (Almeria, Spain).

FORWARDS: Erik Lamela (River Plate, Argentina), Hugo Rodallega (Wigan Athletic, England), Fernando Llorente (Athletic Club Bilbao, Spain), Radamel Falcao (FC Porto, Portugal), James Rodriguez (FC Porto, Portugal) and Juan Martinez (Velez Sarsfield, Argentina).

Date: 2011-01-25 05:25 pm (UTC)We should have something like this at the beginning of the new season, and then calculate points each matchday! :D
(By the way, I love the pics you chose of Llorente. XD)

Date: 2011-01-26 03:08 pm (UTC)It is terribly hard to limit the choices...I am completely bummed that I couldn't fit Javi Martinez or Andoni Iraola (and others) into this post! I really need to do another alternate team! :(
That's a good idea...to choose a 'team' just prior to the season and then calculate points! (We could still do it for the South American leagues...their new seasons haven't started yet!)
Just because you said you loved the pics I chose of Llorente I am going to do a Llorente picspam, because I had saved 20 pics but used only 3 for the collage! XDDDDD

Date: 2011-01-30 10:30 am (UTC)If I had any clue about the South American leagues, I'd say let's go for it, but I really wouldn't know which players to choose. But we so have to do this when the next season starts. And hey, you can always choose South American players for that one, too! :D I'm just wondering how to calculate the points. The Yahoo Fantasy Football game has a really great way of calculating points, but we'd have to watch every single match to get that kind of data, and I'm not sure if there are any detailed player statistics anywhere else... But I shall think of something!
I saw and saved your Llorente picspam but haven't had time to check it out yet, am very excited about it though and will have a look ASAP! There needs to be more Llorente in my life! XD
