I have over 100 pictures from yesterday's games. So what I'm gonna do is post the ones from the Barcelona game here, the Real Madrid ones at [livejournal.com profile] casa_arbeloa, the Athletic/Atleti ones at [livejournal.com profile] 4_atleti and the Valencia ones at [livejournal.com profile] ever_24.

So here are the Barcelona pics and I'll post the others after.

WARNING: Excessive amounts of blood on Gerard Pique. Don't click below if you are squeamish. :(

No, Carles Puyol didn't play, but you can see most of his teammates below the cut.

I'm actually more worried about that poor goalkeeper's teeth than I am about Piqué's head.

Seriously. I think he might have left one embedded in Pique's forehead.
BAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA@ your icon!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, huh? Almost like in a cartoon XD

I love that icon. If those were my daughters, I'd be so proud of them, hahaha!

LHUN! I read that the Ajax fans have started singing a San Lorenzo song! (of course, with the words changed and all). We're ·connected· now. hahaha

Thank you! I was so happy for Valdez, but sad for Barca too, Messi scored a spitting image of his Argentina goal, so pretty, but disallowed by someone else's foul.

And Pique - oh my! Luckily the goalie's teeth stayed in there, he didn't spit blood or anything. Ugh, they didn't show up those closeups on TV, I didn't realize he was bleeding so much.

The result was probably the result of a long trip back from Argentina for some of these boys. And perhaps Hercules' new signings were inspirational. They looked very good, very competent.

The announcers kept referring to Pique's 'buckets of blood' but the cameramen didn't show too much of it. However, when I saw the photos....oh my. :(

Yes, almost all of Barca was in Argentina last week.
Still, I wish if they decided to flop, they would flop against Atleti next week and not now. :D
But oh the relief - Kunie injury isn't as bad as they thought, he should be able to play against Barca!

is it wrong that I laughed really really hard at Pique?

Not at all. Pique is a source of great entertainment always. XDDDD

hahaha I was too pissed off at the prices to go

From: [identity profile] just-jenni.livejournal.com
What were they? I paid $108.75 for a seat (or $223 for two incl. taxes) for the Canada vs Peru game. They were great seats, but still...:(

From: [identity profile] ayres-4.livejournal.com
60 pesos for a "popular"... Usually "populars" are around 30 pesos (although they've just raised them to 40)

Date: 2010-09-12 05:00 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] just-jenni.livejournal.com
Okay, so a peso is about a quarter to a third of a dollar (currently .26) so that means $108.75 would be about 435 pesos. And they charge only 60 pesos there? That would be a little over 20 bucks here!!! Good god! That's terrible! I keep thinking it's because our stadium seats only about 23,000 people and obviously there is demand for more seating so they charge more. I checked and the Gasometro seats 43,000 (is that right?) so twice as much as ours. :(

It was more expensive for the international match than for a TFC game. The exhibition games are more as well. I believe the TFC game we went to in April cost about $40 per ticket, but again, I bought the closest seats we could get to the pitch and they were great. Right behind the Toronto net. XDDD So worth it! :)

Date: 2010-09-12 05:10 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] ayres-4.livejournal.com
Well, you have to keep in mind that a popular is the worst seat in the stadium. You don't actually "sit" in the popular, usually. lol. But then you have the "plateas" (where you sit down). In our stadium, for example, the platea Sur (the one you see on tv) costs 70 pesos. And the platea Norte is 110 pesos. Of course, these are the prices for those who aren't socios of the club. If you're a socio you don't pay for the popular, and the Sur costs only 20 pesos.. The Norte costs 60.
So, you see the difference with the Spain-Argentina tickets? Ridiculous. Especially since most people here can't afford it. It doesn't sound expensive when you turn it to dollars, but we don't earn dollars, hahaha.
Yes, we seat almost 44,000 in the (un-finished) stadium. The Old Gasometro sat 75,000. :'(

Date: 2010-09-12 05:29 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] just-jenni.livejournal.com
Oh, I see. We don't have those 'popular' areas. It's all plateaus, and I think there must be some 'special' boxes for 'important' people. XDDD I know there is a special lounge area behind a section of seats (we wandered in there by mistake once). :)

75,000? Yikes! The largest stadium I've been in is Estadio da Luz in Lisbon (Benfica's stadium), which seated 64,000.

Date: 2010-09-12 05:40 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] ayres-4.livejournal.com
hahaha we have "boxes" as well. They're behind the seats in la Norte and behind the seats assigned to journalists. So, while we pay maybe 120 pesos for a platea (if you're not a socio, of course), the plateas for Spain-Argentina were 400 pesos. I mean. Fuck you, organizers. lol. A socio that goes to the most expensive seats will pay 175 TOPS in one month (60 pesos for each match and then you pay 55 a month to be a socio).
Yeah...the old Gasometro was known as the argie Wembley.

Date: 2010-09-12 05:51 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] just-jenni.livejournal.com
Well, I am all for clubs making money in the most honest ways, so I suppose ticket prices are what they are for a reason...*sigh*

LOL @ the argie Wembley!!! :)

Date: 2010-09-12 05:59 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] ayres-4.livejournal.com
It just bothers me, because it leaves people out of a once in a lifetime match like Spain-Argentina. European NTs never come here. It sucks to have such expensive tickets...
We complained a lot about the prices of the Sur and they were lowered, thankfully. You see, I think a club should cater to the socios. They're the actual "owners" of the club. If they keep raising the prices like the AFA did with the populares, we're going to empty the stadiums. Or not... That's the worst part. it's incredibly important to fans to be there for their team, so they'll keep going and paying.. and the AFA takes advantage of that.
And yet they do nothing to stop violence (like yesterday against Velez, the tear gases were delightful ¬¬), they encourage corrupt managements...

Date: 2010-09-12 06:07 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] just-jenni.livejournal.com
Well, yeah...if the prices are TOO high it shuts out some people who feel the games mean so much to them...so that's not right. Actually, when we went to the Canada-Peru game (I had bought the tickets a long time before) there was a big annual fair going on in the grounds of the stadium. Just outside the gate where we were going in were some ladies giving tickets away for free. They probably weren't that great, and as the stadium wasn't full, the club probably thought if they could fill it a bit more then it would look better on TV!

It's so hard to control people...and yet I am sure they could do a better job against the tear gas and all! At our stadium they don't allow bottles of any kind (they can be used as missiles) or umbrellas, and all bags/purses are checked at the gates on the way in. If you buy drinks inside, they are all poured into plastic cups.

I remember seeing a documentary a few years ago on Boca Juniors fans and the police were even checking the size of the flags and banners they could bring in!

From: [identity profile] ayres-4.livejournal.com
Oh no, the tear gases were from the police.. To try to control the situation...A little too late.. Sometimes I think they actually want the violence and the confrontations between fans

<3 Not gonna lie, I'm really happy and proud about this :oD
Hércules played pretty well, no? And I remember Valdez from WC?Good for him!
The first pic captioned Hércules players arriving in Barcelona, is actually them at the train station in Alicante ('Estació d'Alacant' means 'Station of Alicante') :o)
Poor Piqué, he seems to really get beat up out there. And poor Calatayud! That was such a brutal hit :o( ugh.

From: [identity profile] just-jenni.livejournal.com
Hahahaha. I kind of thought you'd like the result! XDD
Yeah! Hercules played great! Like they've always been together, yet so many new signings, some from different leagues. (Well, Nelson Valdez anyway, who was playing in Germany.) Very impressive, IMO. :)

Whoops! That's what I get for 'guessing' where they were! Hahahaha. And or course, why would they fly? *facepalm* Of course they'd take the train! LOL.

Yeah, Pique is always getting banged around. (No pun intended.) XD

I'd like to know if Calatayud's mouth and teeth are okay. :/

Tote is pretty hot, too, though! His real name is Jorge Lopez Marco. He is Hercules' captain. :)
