In an interview on TV, Uruguay's coach Tabarez said that in the first round of matches coaches tended to be very cautious in the way they approached the games. Perhaps this is the reason behind so few goals being scored. Yesterday Uruguay came out more offensively, playing with three strikers. Edison Cavani and Luis Suarez played more conventionally, and Diego Forlan was allowed to go wherever he wanted. Uruguay's defense is stronger than what most pundits initially believed. The South African team seemed undisciplined, and this resulted in a couple of yellow cards, a red for the goalkeeper and the coach being sent off as well. Diego Forlan scored twice, becoming the first multiple goalscorer at this World Cup. His two were followed by a goal from Alvaro Pereira to make it 3 - 0 for Uruguay.

Date: 2010-06-17 11:38 pm (UTC)We are having three matches per day this week. The first one starts at 7:15 AM. So I get up at 5 AM or so, eat breakfast, do some chores, have a shower, get dressed and sit down to watch. If I have time I will make my LJ posts. (I usually save & upload my pics in the evening.) The next match follows at 9:45 AM and is finished by 12 noon. Then there is a break until 2:30 PM when the third and final match takes place. After that I am free to do all the other things I have to do.
When the four games per day start, then there will be an extra one at noon. I will be screwed! Nothing but football all bloody day long! LMAO.
