The biggest thrill for me was to see Fernando Gago playing again.

Here he was the last time I saw him play. It was May 23, 2009:

He looks a lot different now...

It was snowing and cold at the Bernabeu...

Real Madrid won, Gonzalo Higuain scored, Iker Casillas got another shutout, Fernando Gago was in the starting lineup. All important aspects of the game. For me the highlight was the snow. And your pics captured it so well. It was surreal watching Real Madrid play in the snow, seeing it accumulate in the players' hair, listening to the commentators explain how the underground heating system would prevent the accumulation on the pitch, etc. The snow became the main story of this game for me. Seemed more like they were playing here in Canada rather than Madrid. Who says soccer can't be our national sport?

Awww, who am I kidding....I was SOOOO happy to see Gago back in the starting lineup I practically cried. I just wish he could stay there. *crosses fingers*

Thank you as always for your great work on the picspam. It captured the atmosphere of the game exquisitely.

It was surreal watching Real Madrid play in the snow, wasn't it? It felt special for me, like Christmas again. With a big, Gago-shaped present. I loved the fact about the pitch being heated so the snow wouldn't stick. And who says we can't have real turf and a heated pitch in Toronto? We'd attract much better players for sure.

I thought Gago did wonderfully well considering he's been out of the lineup for quite awhile. What impressed me most was how well he and Xabi Alonso hooked up and between them did not let Mallorca get the ball forward at all. They did an amazing job.

Thank you so much for the compliment. I know the photos are not mine, and everyone has to deal with a great many posts on the same thing. But I usually try to 'express myself' through the photos that I choose to post. It doesn't always come off, but sometimes it's nice to see the result. Your comment is much appreciated. XD

With all the rumours floating around about Raul, Casillas and Del Piero wanting to go to MLS prior to retiring I'm all for Toronto's real turf and heated pitch :D

Yes, a heated pitch would be lovely in Toronto. I've been on a waiting list for season tickets for two years. I'm hoping that by the time we get a few 'stars' here I'll have them!

Thank you, snow pictures are looking gorgeous. Is it me or Kaka's body language on pictures suggests that he's waste of space? ;)

Oh dear, poor Kaka. I did notice during the game that he seemed not 'in sync' with some of the other players. He looked to be a tiny bit slow to react on his first touch of the ball, whereas Xabi Alonso and Gago distributed it without any hesitation at all. Kaka runs very fast, but I don't know why he is having trouble playing the Spanish game at this point. Clearly the game is more complicated than the more tactical Italian game, but come on...

OMG, is that Danny Cipriani in your icon? If not, you can kick me.

Even during his best time in Milan I believed that he's overrated because yes, he's good, okay but I miss more variety, like he's not elastic enough to fit to style not only of his teammates but opponent as well. I never wanted him in Madrid and for now he didn't proove me wrong.

You could expect Danny from me although I think he's spoiled brat but this time it's good old Keanu Reeves. I'm sure he would be happy that you took away a few long years of his back. ;)

Thanks for the pics! I was so excited Gago started and then Guti came on and showed his vision and passing!! I was in heaven for the whole game especially with Higuain's beauty of a goal and Granero getting the second!!

That is just way too many exclamation marks!!! Sorry!

LOL. It's okay about the exclamation marks. It was such a beautiful game, they were deserved!
