THE MEXICAN INTERLIGA TOURNAMENT

I thought I'd post a picspam from the Interliga games so far. This tournament is taking place in the Southern USA, but it determines which two Mexican teams will take the two final Mexican berths in the 2010 Copa Libertadores. I have been fortunate in being able to watch the games on HDTV here. The picture quality is superb, such a nice change from the horrible feeds GOLTV gives us of the La Liga games (although I'm not complaining...I feel lucky to get them at all). Anyway, there are two groups of four teams each, and the group winners will go to the Copa Lib. So far America is leading Group A and Puebla Group B.
Here are pics of the games.
A teaser:

The tournament started January 2nd, so I'll begin the picspam there.
The game between Santos and Club America was fantastic. American won. I'm going to name the players who will probably feature for their countries in the upcoming World Cup. Some are from Mexico, but others are from Chile, Paraguay and Argentina.

This is Jean Beausejour, the Chilean (will probably play in the WC).

Enrique Esqueda hugging Rolfi Montenegro (the Argentine ex of Independiente). Rolfi was AMAZING in this game. XD

For me, the highlight was Oswaldo Sanchez, Santos' GK, having a heated discussion with Salvador Cabanas (the Paraguayan).

Santos players celebrate a goal.

Oswaldo saw a great deal of action.

Of course, Salvador scored.

In the Group B game, Atlante (in the red and blue) played Estudiantes Tecos.
Federico Vilar of Argentina is the goalie making the save here.

Okay, now the player on the ground is one of the other Rafa Marquezes (there are three of them...one, of course, plays for FC Barcelona. This one, also known as Rafael Marquez Lugo, plays for Atlante. And there is another one who plays in Colombia.) This is the only striker among the Rafa Marquezes.

On January 3rd, Tigres (in the gold) played Puebla (in the white and blue).

Carlos Ruiz scored for Puebla.

So did Alvaro Gonzalez (on the ground). This is NOT the same Alvaro Gonzalez, ex of Boca Jrs., who now plays for Nacional de Montevideo. (Both, I believe, are Uruguayans.)

And Monterrey played Jaguares (in the orange).

This is Gerardo Flores. (GORGEOUS, STUNNING, and a very good defensive mid!!!!)

Ezequiel Orozco of Jaguares.

Neri Cardozo walks off the pitch arm around one of the Jaguares players, because of course, he played there last year. XDDDD

On January 5th, America played Atlante.

The little guy in the white kit is Hobbit Bermudez.

Memo is pretty amazing.

Tigres played Monterrey on the 6th.

Kikin Fonseca got a cheap yellow, which was probably given because he kept mouthing off all game.

Puebla played Jaguares.
Carlos Ruiz makes his feelings known here.

Edgar Andrade has his shirt pulled. XDDD

Jorge Villalpando is Puebla's pretty amazing goalkeeper.

Puebla players do a little happy dance.

Here are pics of the games.

Puebla - I know nothing.
Neri is wasting his talent! Not only his fault also the fault of Boca.
La Gata is made for Estudiantes!!! I have seen him a few times with Tigres and he never was that good like with Estudiantes!
Oswaldo has tooooooooooooooooooo much fire!
Have to look for pics too.

Date: 2010-01-16 02:16 pm (UTC)After what happened with Teo (which has broken my heart - I never realized how much I loved that guy until the shock of his leaving Junior and Geo made me realize) I am scared when I don't see other favourite players in the preseason pics. I didn't see Joel training with the cement boys and I was so worried I googled him, but it's okay...he is still there but he is injured. Not that I'm glad he is injured but I am so relieved he hasn't left the team.
Cabanas is great sometimes and other times he disappears. I don't understand it.
I watched Neri in the final with Monterrey against America and he is a very, very good player. Quiet, but smooth and does the job calmly and without fanfare. They won, eh? I still need to do a post and also on the Mexican preseason, because there have been some good pics of the hotties and cuties.♥
