I am very depressed. I have to get out of this somehow. The Champions League and UEFA Cup games last week made me this way. Sometimes I wish I just had one favourite team in each league rather than liking various teams. Because I found that when two of those teams play each other I always cheer for the underdog, but if either team loses (which they have to) then I still feel completely bummed for the other team.
This week I found out that Arsenal is absolutely my favourite team in the Premiership. I wasn't sure of it before, but I am now, even though I still like the Spurs too. But when Arsenal lost, or more likely were ripped off, against Liverpool, I felt so bad that I almost made myself sick. I felt the same way over the Getafe-Bayern game, especially because of the way Getafe lost. I like Bayern a lot because I love most of their players, although Stuttgart remains my favourite team in the Bundesliga. And Getafe is not even my favourite team in La Liga. That honour goes to Real Madrid, with Sevilla running a close second. But I felt so sick for Getafe, and that put together with how I felt about Arsenal's losses just sent me into this spiralling depression. I haven't been able to get online until just now and that's only because I've been watching football today, but absolutely none of the games are interesting me.
*sigh*
So I've been surfing and found two things that cheered me up a bit. They are:
1) Club Atletico River Plate of Argentina, and
2) Mauro Zarate
Therefore, I must do two picspams.
1) River Plate - A lovely, joyful team.
River Plate are currently in second place just behind Estudiantes La Plata in the Clausura in Argentina, with only 2 points separating the two teams. In the Copa Libertadores (South American version of the Champions League) River are second in Group 5, tied with Club America of Mexico on points, but just one point behind in goal differential. I love River Plate this year because of their players and their new coach, Diego Simeone, who really seems to care about the team and has led them to wonderful form so far. And they play with such joy. They truly raise my spirits. Here is a picspam of some recent games:
I mean, look at these team celebrations. How can you not love them?

Here is the one they call Mighty Mouse, Diego Buonanotte, celebrating his goal.

And here he is on the ball. LOL. He is so tiny...only 5 feet 3 inches tall.

More Buonanotte.

Buonanotte runs to join fellow players in celebration.

Here is Alexis Sanchez, another delightful young River player.

And Rodrigo Archubi, another one.

Archubi has an interesting hairstyle, with that long piece at the back.

More celebrations.

2) Mauro Zarate - a lovely, joyful Argentine footballer, currently playing for Birmingham City in the Premiership.
Mauro was born March 18, 1987 in Buenos Aires. This 5 foot 9 inch striker is on loan to Birmingham City from Al-Sadd in Qatar, but he went there from Velez Sarsfield, one of the big clubs in Argentina. Mauro has been doing great at Birmingham, where he is quickly becoming a fan favourite, and I am sure everyone will be wanting to make his loan permanent. Just today he scored off a fantastic free kick to bring Birmingham level with Everton at the end of the game.
How could anyone not love this cute little face...such a typical adorable Argentine.
This is when he was with Velez.

With the Argie U20 team that won the 2007 WC.

And with Birmingham.

There. *Sigh* I think I am starting to feel better.♥
