jenni_blog: (URU-LUIS SUAREZ)
My thoughts on "The Controversy"

So Luis Suarez wouldn't shake Patrice Evra's hand - why should he? Thanks to Evra he was out for 8 games - I'd be mad too.

Luis is well known for being a prickly character - knowing this, why then provoke him and not expect him to react to the provocation?

David De Gea pushed aside Luis' hand when he tried to shake it. Why were there no tweets on that? Rio Ferdinand wouldn't shake his hand either, but he is in a difficult situation. Rio's brother Anton was allegedly racially abused by John Terry, who has been Rio's partner in central defense on the England National Team for YEARS. Understandably, Rio must feel uncomfortable in all this mess, but he is wise to stay out of it - he must know how football is, though.

This brings another question. Why is John Terry on TRIAL but Luis Suarez not? Why not? Could it be because Luis did NOT actually racially abuse Patrice Evra, as he has always maintained? Could this be why Kenny Dalglish is on his side?

And now that brings up Fabio Capello. Fabio has QUIT the National Team over the John Terry incident. He was clearly on JT's side, an example of a coach sticking by his player.

As is Kenny Daglish sticking by Luis Suarez.

As Sir Alex Ferguson always has been with all his players.

So why did Sir Alex say the things he did today? That Luis Suarez is a disgrace?

What about Wayne Rooney and his controversial behaviour in the past? Sir Alex has always stuck by him. He knows damn well Kenny is also going to stick by his players. I don't get Sir Alex, except that he's never been shy about sticking his oar in the waters and stirring up a bit of crap himself.

Evra's behaviour after the match was the REAL disgrace. It could have caused a riot, stirring up the fans as he tried to do. The refusal of one player to shake another's hand would never cause a riot, partly because the fans can't see it from the stands. But Evra walking around and waving his arms as he did in front of Luis Suarez and the fans showed that he was clearly trying to stir up something. I think the FA should look at THAT and suspend him for a couple of matches.

And what did Sir Alex say about it?

"He shouldn't have done it."

Oh. Really.
