It's a little late, but that's because my camera's batteries died and it took me a few days to remember to buy some new ones. I just got the photos uploaded and resized, as well as correcting the exposure on some of them because they were too dark!

Before Hallowe'en we had a bit of drama earlier in the previous week. My husband had decided to install a cat flap in the sliding glass doors to our backyard, so that he wouldn't have to be constantly getting up & down all night to let the cats in & out. But what do you think happened within a week of having this thing put in? That's right. We had wildlife in our house, the wild animals learning to use the cat flap even faster than the cats did.

About midnight last Tuesday, we were awakened by some commotion in the kitchen. Unfortunately, I did not have the presence of mind to grab my camera, so I don't have any pictures of the RACOON that was in our kitchen, eating all the cats' food. It scared the wits out of us, because not only was it BIG (dog-sized) but it looked at us as if WE were the intruders! After staring us down (we retreated down the hallway to ponder WTF to do) it finished eating everything it could find and then left via the same way it came in, amid the howling of one of the cats, who had decided at that point to start protesting.

Second visitor was a bird (a brown sparrow) who must have been brought in by one of the cats. It flew around for awhile before perching on top of one of our picture frames above the stairway. (And dropping some feathers and yes - droppings.) Here is a photo, and below the cut is another pic of my son Jamie getting it into a net, from which he released it outside.

I'm sorry I didn't get more pictures, now that I see them. :/
