MY BIRTHDAY AND OTHER STUFF
Sep. 3rd, 2011 11:26 amMy birthday was yesterday, September 2nd. Thank you to everyone who posted b'day wishes for me, on LJ, Twitter, Facebook et al. Love you all!♥
Yesterday was also the 50th birthday of Carlos 'El Pibe' Valderrama. Belated wishes to the great man!

It was a pretty eventful day for me. I went out for a nice lunch with my daughter Olivia at Williams Coffee Pub for California salads and cappucinos, then off shopping. When we got home we had some of my birthday cake...a lovely strawberry shortcake with white and brown chocolate and real whipped cream. Yum. It was a bit early, but she had to leave to go away for the long weekend so we ate cake before the guys got home.
Shortly after that my son Jamie came home from work to have lunch and tell me that I would have to go into Toronto with him to co-sign the lease on his new apartment. As it turned out, he didn't have to be there so I went with his gf Carrie and her mom. Jamie is going to be attending college in Toronto along with Carrie and two other friends of theirs. The four of them found a 3-bedroom apartment about 3 minutes away from Jamie's school. All four are going to different schools, and it just happens that this apartment is closest to Jamie's! It is too far away from home for him to make the commute. It would actually cost more to travel there than to pay one-quarter of the rent, so it made more sense to do it this way. It's so exciting! We got to see the apartment and it's really nice. Three large bedrooms, the floor is all terra cotta tile, the kitchen is kind of small, but it's clean and open. The bathroom is very small...not sure how Carrie is going to like that. But OMG, the location is fabulous for young people! There is a lovely little pub/nightclub next door to the building where I am sure the kids will be spending a lot of their time. They are so excited! I haven't seen Jamie since last night...I bet they've been moving all night long, although he hasn't been home yet for his stuff.
Carrie had gone on Kijiji and bought some things she needed...two full-length mirrors and an industrial-size clothing rack for all her stuff. We went to pick those up after we had looked at the apartment and paid good cash money and signed on the dotted line. It's actually owned by a company, run by a property management firm, so it was much nicer to deal with them than an individual landlord...so professional.
When I got home last night around 8 PM my husband had ordered Chinese food for my birthday supper. I was knackered after a full day of running around, so after I ate I pretty much fell asleep. XD
Now I've gotta catch up with everything, look around LJ and elsewhere and see what I missed! :)
