The South American Qualifiers are among the world's most exciting. The top two teams have their places secured...Brazil and Paraguay, and the bottom two are eliminated...Bolivia and Peru. The others are locked in a fierce battle for three places, the fifth to be determined in a playoff against the fourth-placed CONCACAF team. The last three places will belong to any of the following: Argentina, Venezuela, Chile, Uruguay, Colombia or Ecuador.
Here are a few training pics from the past few days. I've also included some of Mexico, Honduras, Costa Rica and El Salvador.
Peru National Team.
Okay guys, so what are you going to do?

Peru's coach Del Solar pondering his strategy.

These are Peru's goalkeepers.

Colombian national team jerseys hang across Avenida 80 in Medellin.

Colombia team trains.

I didn't find that many good pics of Chile's NT but here is Arturo Vidal getting off the bus.

Argentina continues to train.

Uruguay

Paraguay

Bolivia

Brazil

Now for some CONCACAF...
There is major political drama happening in Honduras. The president, Manuel Zelaya, was ousted, then sneaked back and is staying in Brazil.
This is a student supporter of his.

A peace-keeping soldier.

Honduras will be playing the USA today.
Both teams should make the WC but this is also a tight group and anything could happen.
This is the Honduras team from earlier in the summer. I couldn't find any pics of the team or the USA team currently.

This is El Salvador. I don't think they will make the WC but they still have a chance.

This is Mexico.

Costa Rica pics are missing! The sites only have pics of the Costa Rica U-20 team who are playing their quarter-final game against UAE today!
GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE. I WILL BE HOLED UP WATCHING THE COLOMBIA-CHILE GAME AND RIGHT AFTER THAT THE COSTA RICA-TRINIDAD & TOBAGO GAME. i CANNOT WATCH THE ARGENTINA-PERU GAME. NO WAY, NO HOW.

Date: 2009-10-11 12:17 am (UTC)SHIT DAY! All happened like I said... I'm great I should bet!
Not all was shitty! Denmark won vs Sweden!!! Germany won vs Russia and the U20 Costa Rica boys made it too.
But all that is not important (Denmark's victory was important because now the will play 2010)

Date: 2009-10-11 05:35 pm (UTC)You were right...I was hoping for too much!
For Denmark, Serbia, Spain, Chile (I don't hate them), Germany and Mexico it was a GREAT day!
And for Argentina, Uruguay, Costa Rica, Honduras and a bunch of others there is HOPE! Playoffs suck, but some will win and achieve their dream of going to the WC!
For Colombia there will be next time. While I was watching yesterday I was trying to analyze what was wrong. For starters, Chile was very, very good and you can't take that away from them. They were quicker, more inventive, and seemed like they had a plan. Colombia wasn't bad, but they were not as good as Chile and once I recognized that I didn't feel so bad. There is not enough of a plan of attack for Colombia. Too many long balls and not enough passing. Their passing needs to be worked on...there are too many misses. They were great in midfield, winning most of the balls from the Chileans, but they need to work on their passing game. You could see Falcao and the other strikers were frustrated from the lack of supply. Anyway, I could go on and on...
There will be next time for sure!!!!

Date: 2009-10-11 10:18 pm (UTC)Anyway, it was so nice to talk to him about football and from that point I became a little bit interested in the Serbian team, although it is not one of my favourites. But for my physio I am glad that they made it!
Why don't you like them?

Date: 2009-10-11 10:43 pm (UTC)Have you heard about KOSEVO? A part of the former Yugoslavia. I had a boy friend from there and he told me terrible thing about what the Serbians did there. In this war is so many happened and really terrible things. I have read about too.
But the worst part: my boyfriend didn't coma back from a trip to his parents in Kosevo. (The people living in Kosevo - Kosevo Albanians are mostly moslems and the Serbians are Christs and so problems are permanet there.)
You can take HERE (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_European_countries)
Republic of Kosovo - not all countries have accept and accredited it as a independent state.
The serbian State don't want the Kosevo as an independent state!

Date: 2009-10-11 10:47 pm (UTC)I will be most interested to read about it.
Your boyfriend did not come back? Did something happen to him?
How awful!
Of course, I knew there would be a reason why you hate them!

Date: 2009-10-11 11:00 pm (UTC)But what the serbians did to the Kosevo people should no human being experience.
Imagine murderers (serbian army, police and terrorists) come into your house take your wife and the children and do unimaginable things with them and you have to watch and cannot help... that was life in Kosevo!
Imagine they would rape you with a bayonet... That was life in Kosevo!
Later they found mass graves...
I hate SERBIA with all my heart like no other country!

Date: 2009-10-11 11:55 pm (UTC)A lot of Serbians like my physio (well, his parents, I guess) probably hated what was going on so much that they left the country! That's the trouble when a government goes corrupt...the people get tarred with the same brush!

Date: 2009-10-12 12:28 am (UTC)I cannot say the people there are all bad... no! I would never say it. But there are still other things in my mind...
