jenni_blogLJ has been really quiet. I haven't posted for awhile either, and there are some things I need to catch up on. It's the last week of school for most students here and people are running around doing last-minute things before they go away. I haven't seen so much traffic buzzing around since the day before the last long weekend. Work has been crazy, and my home life as well, lately.
I hate it when I can't be more active on LJ! Since I opened my first LJ acount in 2004 or 2005, I've met some wonderful people and have had so much addictive fun.
Just some thoughts...
I think I know what it is that's been bugging me the most about Real Madrid. I don't like Jose Mourinho! There...I've said it. The rest of the team is fine, although the administration has always been a joke. But the players are all okay for me. There will never be a 'perfect' team, with all 'perfect' players anyway. Every season players are bought and sold and a newly styled team is developed. But we learn to love some of them and despise others. That's the way of things always in sports, I guess.
So who am I kidding? My favourite teams remain Real Madrid and Athletic Club Bilbao, with much fondness for FC Sevilla, Valencia and Atletico Madrid in Spain. Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and Wigan Athletic are my favourites in England, with fondness for Manchester United and most of the others. In Colombia I love Junior and Millonarios, with much fondness for Independiente Medellin, Once Caldas and Atletico Nacional. In Argentina still love River Plate, although they are facing a relegation playoff. Scary stuff. And I love Gimnasia y Esgrima de la Plata, Velez Sarsfield and Godoy Cruz, with much fondness for most of the others. The South American leagues are so exciting!
Congratulations to FC Porto in Portugal, who won 4 championships this season, including the Europa League. Also congrats to Velez for winning the Argentine league, Atletico Nacional for winning in Colombia, Nacional de Montevideo (Uruguay), Borussia Dortmund (Germany), Manchester United (England), and, grudgingly, Barcelona (Spain, as well as the Champions League in Europe).
We are still waiting for the last match of the Copa Libertadores, to find out if Santos of Brazil or Penarol of Uruguay will take home the South American Cup.
On TV I have only had time for Game of Thrones, and I've been reading the books as well. I just finished Book Three and am about 50 pages into Book Four. Holy cow, what an amazing series! Book Three was so incredibly complicated and intense, involving the deaths of at least 10 major characters (and two more we are not sure of yet). Once I finished it, I went back through it and made some categories and lists of different things to help keep it all straight in my mind. Which characters started the book together and where were they when it ends, where do they travel to, who did they meet, who got killed and who was/were blamed for it, and who have risen above their former stations. I also listed who I love, hate, and pity.
Last night's season finale was just as good as I thought it would be. All the characters were in it, getting their stories wrapped up as far as Book One went...although some of their storylines are progressing more slowly than others. O_O @ Cersei and Lancel!!!! I didn't think that this happened until Book Two,but I could be mistaken, having read the books so quickly that I may have blurred the lines a bit between where one book ends and the other begins.
All right, I have rambled on enough and now I must get ready for work. I'll be on vacation after this week, for three weeks. I can't even explain how wonderful I feel about this! At that time I will try to catch up on all the stuff I've been missing here on LJ. Love to all! ♥
