For anyone who hasn't seen this yet, here are Bleacher's predicted Top 20 Real Madrid targets for the summer.

Real Madrid's Top Ten Summer Transfer Targets

According to Bleacher Report (followed by my personal opinion on each one)

1. Cesc Fabregas - Don't be ridiculous! Cesc is staying put at Arsenal. And if he's going anywhere, it would most likely be to Barca, like he said himself. However, now that Barca's broke and can't afford him (giggle, snort, chuckle) I am almost 100% sure that Cesc will stay at Arsenal.

2. Maicon - Maybe. I think Mourinho wants him but I think he wants to stay at Inter.

3. Keisuke Honda - Are you serious? I can't see him fitting at Real Madrid. Sure, he's good, but we have Gonzalo Higuain. And he's a good free kick specialist, but we have Rafa Van der Vaart. So, nah, can't see it.

4. Steven Gerrard - Hell, no! It's not at all a good fit! And I've just read that he's NOT coming, so let that be an end to it!

5. Bastian Schweinsteiger - God, no! NOT a good fit, plus I'm sure he'd want to stay with Bayern!

6. Carlos Tevez - Hmmm...Carlitos would always be a good player for any team. But again, it's the fit...I'm not sure he's Real Madrid material.

7. Nemanja Vidic - Hell, no! No Serbian handballers on Real Madrid!

8. Juan Manuel Vargas - Hmmmmmm...very interesting. *drools* Verrrrry interesting. I have no idea how good he is or what type of player, but damn, he'd do the shirt proud! XD

9. Aleksander Kolarov - I have no idea what he's like, in all fairness. And I thought he was Russian at first, so I edited that part out! I don't really have an opinion on this one.

10. Glen Johnson - God. *faints* Okay, he's stunning and would look incredible in the RM jersey, but seriously, do we need another right back, with Sergio and Alvaro Arbeloa, and Maicon if he comes? Also, there is a question of Glen not getting along with Mourinho, if the rumours can be believed.

11. Sami Khedira - Yum. Another hottie to look GOOD in the shirt. And a very good player. But do we need another defensive mid? I guess it depends on what happens with the players we've already got.

12. Robin Van Persie - Now, that is an interesting idea. VERY interesting. I like it! Robin fills in that space in the middle when Gonzalo is on the right and Cristiano is on the left. Yes, I like the idea very much, and much more than having Carlos Tevez. (Sorry Carlitos, I love you, but can't see you at Real Madrid!)

13. Mesut Ozil - No!!! He's a very good player but I can see him fitting in better at a team like Sevilla FC where he can link up with their speedy wingers, Jesus Navas and Diego Perotti. He might be fine at Real Madrid, especially if Guti leaves, but I have some doubts about his potential to play alongside the other Real Madrid guys.

14. Thomas Mueller - He'd be an asset to any team, but I don't think he'd want to go there so soon. Maybe in a few years. Besides, we don't really need him, especially if we were to get Robin Van Persie.

15. Ashley Cole - Yikes. This would indicate to me that Mourinho is looking to replace Marcelo. And it's not the first time I've read this rumour. I don't know. He's a great player for sure, but I don't know if his personality is a good fit for RM.

16. David Luiz - Oh, yes! YES, YES, YES!!! You can't have too many defenders on the roster the way they get knacked up. He would hook up well with Pepe and I am actually salivating over this one!

17. Fabio Coentrao - OH YEAHHHHHH!!!! He's an awesome player! I'd prefer him in left back over Ashley Cole. I think it would be a better fit. He plays so much like Sergio as far as the passion, the work rate and the stamina. And Cristiano already knows him, so it would be great to have those two together on the same team!

18. Daniele de Rossi - NO!!! Ewwwww! I hate that guy! We don't need any divers on the team!

19. Javi Martinez - Oh, god. No, much as I LOVE the guy, he cannot be taken away from Athletic Bilbao and his bff Fernando Llorente! If Javi comes, then Llorente would have to come too! (Not a bad idea at all. XDDD)

20. Okay, there was no #20 on the Bleacher Report's list! It actually had Steven Gerrard twice. So I'll make my own #20 since it seems that Real Madrid has signed off on Pedro Leon from Getafe. *more drooling* Pedro would be an awesome addition to any team! However, I've read that RM might loan him back to Getafe for the upcoming season.

And what's happening with Sergio Canales??? I've read that he will be on Real Madrid's roster for the upcoming season, but nothing is for sure yet because he is currently playing with the U-19 NT.

(pssst, Kolarov is from Serbia)

I'm sorry, but there's a reason why I ignore bleacher report. They are always full of crap!

No!!! David and Coentrão must stay in Benfica! We need them!!! Well, today Coentrão said he wants to stay for at least another year, and Mourinho said Marcelo is better than him so, I don't know.. It would be good for him anyway.. But Chelsea and Bayern are after him too..
As for David he already said he loves Benfica and he doesn't want to leave and our president said he's not for sale, so I think David is going to stay! :)

Oh God, I hate this season and I hate RM!! We already lost Di Maria to them!! I miss him so much already!

Van Persie would be a good transfer anyway..

Well, OK. Yes, of course I understand and it would be best if both Fabio and David stayed at Benfica. I don't like it when teams lose good players to huge teams like Real Madrid, but I'm conflicted, because as a Real Madrid fan I like to see great players come there! But as a Benfica fan also, I hate to see the good players leave! However, Benfica is great at finding the new 'stars', so maybe the new signings they made this season will turn out great.

I really like the Van Persie rumour! :)

Uh-oh! *facepalm*
Thanks for the correction! LOL.

Yes, I've come across many strange things in Bleacher Report. But I just felt I wanted to add my 2 cents to those transfer choices.

1 and 2 are already out of the equation.

I hate transfer season.

This season is crazy! My head is spinning...I'm watching Sky Sports news and there are just waaayyyy too many transfers! I've just seen David Silva being trotted out at Manchester City. God, how strange that seemed.....*sobs*

Transfer season totally sucks (usually), but it's mind-boggling how much time there is left! We have until Sept. 1st, right? That's terrible.

I think so. I firmly believe the summer window is too long.

I saw Silva at City. It just felt wrong. :(

*sigh* Yes.

I wish I could find some pics of David Silva at Manchester City. So far I haven't seen any...I suppose they'll come out today. I guess I want to see them because seeing is believing. :(

A quick look got me these. My good sources don't have anything yet. I would think they would give him some time off after the WC.

And I am pretty sure I saw a pic of him holding the kit yesterday.

Oh thanks a million for these! I saw him on TV in this outfit and speaking briefly with reporters. But I couldn't find any stills this a.m.

Thanks for the link to that comm! I joined it...I belong to another one which may be dead now because nobody has posted in it for awhile. :(

LOL, I blame Pérez and his delusions of grandeur for articles like this. He's asking for them, isn't he? And considering his insanity, some of these don't even sound that impossible.

Let's see...

1. No way. I sure hope that Cesc will stay at Arsenal, but if he does end up transferring, I'm 100% certain it won't be to Real but to Barcelona. (Somehow I'm really really glad that they have a new president now and all the skeletons from the previous one are dug up one by one... If they really end up not being able to afford Cesc, I shall do a happy dance.)

2. From what I've read recently, this is about to become official. I wouldn't mind - I like Maicon (he's one of the very few Brazilians I actually like, which is saying a lot), and since Real Madrid is short on defenders, I think it would be a great idea.

3. Not really necessary, no. He's okay, but he's no world class player, and the players we have are better than him.

4. He's recently announced his commitment to Liverpool, which I think is a great thing. I suppose considering how things went last season, the fans might not even have hated him for leaving but understood his choice. That he said he'd stay despite that honours him.

5. Was declared "not to be sold" by Bayern, so I don't think there's a chance.

6. I'm not sure he's the striker type Real Madrid needs, so this might not be a good idea.

7. NO THANK YOU.

8. I have no clue who this is.

9. See 8.

10. Agree completely with what you wrote. Don't know anything about the rumours, but considering the competition it wouldn't be a great idea for Glen to join Real Madrid, and I also think he's not good enough yet. He needs to develop a bit more, preferably at Liverpool.

11. I was really happy when this was announced. Sami seems to be a very down-to-earth person and a hard worker, and he knows what he wants. I hope he'll blend in well with the team. I could very well imagine a great midfield partnership between him and Xabi Alonso. :) As for the players we already have for that position, I'm quite sure that the one or the other might be sold.

12. Uh no, too injury prone. Also, not that great a striker, compared to the others.

13. NO. That guy is clearly the puppet of his advisor, who's just after the big money. No commitment at all. And he might be capable of great things but he proves it far too rarely. Real Madrid can do better.

14. See 5. No way that's going to happen.

15. EEEK. NO. PLEASE NO. I don't like Cashley and I don't want him at Real Madrid. NO NO NO.

16. YES! That would be great! David Luiz is awesome! :D

17. I'd prefer to have him at Bayern, but obviously he would be a great help for Real, too. I just think that with the Maicon deal being so close to done, I don't think there'll be any room left for Fabio.

18. NO. I hate this man. EEK.

19. NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I love him, but he needs to stay at Athletic. (LMAO @ the bff thing. It's SO TRUE. And Llorente can't leave Athletic either!)

20. Pedro León is such a great signing. I'm so happy for him. :) It does look like he won't play with Real Madrid next season, but I don't mind that because Getafe needs him and at least he'll belong to us. :D

Canales, as far as I know, will play for Racing Santander for another season, but I might be wrong.

LOL. This is just old enough to be very interesting now that some of the deals have taken place and others are likely in the works!

1. I have read that Barcelona is about 447 million euros in debt so I think this is why they can't hire Cesc. Thank god.

2. Maicon really is awesome. So much more likeable than Lucio, who was also rumoured to be coming.

3. True.

4. Yes, there is NO WAY he should leave Liverpool! He IS Liverpool!

5. Don't get me wrong, I love him, but I couldn't see him NOT at Bayern, or AT Real Madrid!

6. Thinking it over now, I can see we don't need him. Although I would like another striker, but it would have to be the perfect guy. I can't even think of anyone. Wait...yes, I can. But Fernando Llorente is to STAY AT ATHLETIC!!! Yikes.

7. Hahahaha.

8. *ahem* He is a Peruvian and on the NT (which I will be seeing in September). Here:

Photobucket

9. I think Kolarov has transferred to Chelsea or something, so no fear.

10. True dat.

11. I love Sami.&hearts. I don't know if you'll remember, but you prompted me to write my very first football slashfic about him and Fernando Meira, based on their similar appearance. XDDDDDD

12. I really like him but I think you are right.

13. Really? I didn't know that and it doesn't sound good. :(

14. I'm sure you are right.

15. I know he's good but there are other great left backs I'd rather have than Cashley! Fabio Coentrao, Jorge Fucile. LOL. They're both in Portugal but they've played in both the Champions League and the World Cup so I think they'd be up to it!

16. OMG he is SO awesome!

17. Probably right.

18. Oh god. I can't stand him. *facepalm* Never happen!

19. OMG...they BOTH need to stay at Athletic! *cries* But they are so awesome they are probably on the RM radar!!!!

20. OMG what a great signing! What??? I thought Pedro would stay and play with RM this season! I thought they were going to offload Granero and Pedro can play on that right side! I guess we'll wait and see.

21. Actually, there was no #21 but I'll fill it with Sergio Canales! Yeah, I don't know about this one. Again, it's a wait and see!

Thanks for the comment! It was fun to go through all this again. :)

Exactly what I thought! BleacherReport might not be the most reliable source for stuff, but when it comes to rumours one always finds interesting ones there. XDDD

God, Barcelona's debts. *headdesk* I seriously can't understand how the previous president could have gotten away with this. At first I thought it was just the normal procedure of a new president (i.e. making the old one look bad so one can be a hero oneself), but I guess it's a lot more than that. But it does make me wonder. Mallorca didn't get the license for the Europa League because of their debts. Seems unfair, doesn't it, that the same rules don't apply to Barcelona. But anyway, yes, Cesc staying at Arsenal is definitely a good thing.

Oooh, a Peruvian international? Sounds interesting! You must tell me all about his performance when you see him! :D

YES! I remember that fic with Sami and Fernando! :D It was awesome! (And you really need to sign up at the archive so I can submit your fics. *nodnod*)

Ah, I'd much rather have Jorge Fucile than Cashley (or anyone, in fact XD), but I guess he's happy at Porto and Porto is happy with him. ;)

If Pérez lays one finger on Javi or Fernando... *shakes fist*

I'm getting confused with all the young players, to be honest, so please ignore all my info about them going on loan or staying. *pokes brain* XD

The Barca debt thing is interesting. I was reading about it here:

http://fourfourtwo.com/blogs/laligaloca/archive/2010/07/28/the-king-is-dead-long-live-ronaldo.aspx

Aparently the first set of books showed a tiny profit but then Deloitte did an audit and discovered the huge loss. I have to wonder if Laporta had fiddled things there? I don't know, but it's all highly suspicious. And yeah...I love that blog. It's very funny but the English guy who writes it has lived in Spain a long time and knows all the goings-on there. For instance, do you know that it is NOT illegal in Spain to fix matches? Apparently some legislation is going to come in in October or something which will change that, but until now it was not illegal! Fascinating stuff.

Okay, I really need to sign up at [livejournal.com profile] the_archive. Now that I've joined the awesome [livejournal.com profile] footballverse I will be writing more fics and I guess I could potentially get them lodged there. Which reminds me...did you do the 'twitter fic' challenge? I thought it was 140 words at first and wrote two fics about that length! Then I realized with horror that it was characters and I cut the fics down to almost nothing! It was such a weird challenge! I have no idea what the fics were supposed to be like in the end, but I did submit two of them.

Anyway, they gave me ideas to expand on them and write a couple of real stories. Even the one I submitted for the prompt fic seemed too short and I was thinking of expanding that one as well before I post it in my journal!

I heard that Fucile was NOT happy at Porto and wanted to move to Italy! I don't want him to go to Italy but if he did I could see him at least because we get Il Calcio games broadcast here!

It's okay. This transfer season is insane with the sheer numbers of transfers. I would have posted more in [livejournal.com profile] transfer_window except that every time I thought of something then 10 more transfer rumours would pop out of nowhere! :(

Oh, BTW...Diego Godin WILL be moving to Atleti and Carlos Marchena has already signed with Villareal to replace him! (You may already know this. XD)
