Yesterday morning I took the commuter train into downtown Toronto in order to meet my sister and a friend. The idea was to celebrate my sister's birthday by having lunch together, then going to Mount Pleasant Cemetery to visit our parents' grave (it's actually a family plot that dates back about 200 years). We had ordered a new headstone and wanted to see if it looked okay as well. Mount Pleasant Cemetery is actually very beautiful so it's not as depressing as it sounds. There were joggers running through the park...it's huge. Many beautiful old trees can be seen there, they have gorgeous rose gardens, etc. Lots of famous people and families are buried here (Prime Minister William Lyon Mackenzie King, pianist Glenn Gould, Banting and Best--the discoverers of insulin--to name a few).

Afterwards we went to a coffee shop to relax and chat before heading home. At 3:30 PM I got on the subway (underground) to go back to Union Station where I could catch the commuter train back home. However, an announcement came over the PA system that all subway trains were to be turned back at Bloor Street (midtown) and that no one was being allowed into the downtown core by police order.

Because of my big adventure I am way far behind on my picspams. I have all the pics from Friday's matches ready to go, but I still need to find pics from yesterday's games and watch today's matches as well, which are very important to me. Picspams will be following later today!

I am way behind on my picspams! But I want to cover these important third match pics from Friday!

First up is Portugal vs Brazil. This was a highly anticipated match, but like other Third Game matches, both teams seemed more interested in maintaining their positions in the Group rather than duking it out in a full-on battle.

However, there were some nice pics from the game.

What a match! Team Feisty meets Team Beautiful! The Hot Chile Peppers really do provide some fantastic entertainment. This match ended up 2 - 1 for Spain with one Chileno sent off.

Some intriguing pics here:
