Yesterday I reverted back to my usual horrendous predictions, getting 3 out of 4 results wrong! I actually predicted ties for all three of those games: Slovakia/Italy, Paraguay/New Zealand and Denmark/Japan. The only game I got right was The Netherlands win over Cameroon.

Slovakian players celebrate their historic win as Italy bows out of the World Cup.

Paraguay secures top spot in the group with a tie, while the plucky All Whites of New Zealand go home without losing a game in the World Cup. Three ties and they're out!

Japan won 2 - 1 on two fantastic free kicks. With this, Japan scores a second-place berth in the Round of 16 while Denmark is out. Jon Dahl Tomasson scored from a rebound off a penalty which the Japanese goalkeeper had saved.

What can you say about The Netherlands? One of the most reliable teams at the WC, they had no trouble beating Cameroon, winning the top spot in their group.

Someone once told me that you must be careful what you post on LJ because who knows who is reading it? Yet I am sure that almost nobody really thinks that anyone important actually reads these journals.

WRONG!

Yesterday I was contacted by e-mail by a producer from BBC Radio who has been reading my Colombian comm [livejournal.com profile] 4colombiafooty. Because of that he wants me to "appear" on his radio show on the World Cup tonight. We will be discussing the question of whether FIFA should change the qualification rules to allow more teams from South America (or all the Americas) into the World Cup given the success of the South American teams this time.

This morning he telephoned me and after a brief discussion, we agreed that I will be speaking on the show tonight at 7:30 PM. If anyone in the UK is interested in listening, it's on BBC Radio at 7:30 PM. The show is called "BBC World Cup Have Your Say".

I hope I'm not going to be nervous and sound like an absolute plonker! I was fine and cheery on the phone with the radio host this morning, but when the phone call comes in to be on live radio I hope I don't freak out and make an ass of myself!

Wish me well! LOL.

The downside of this is that I'll be on the radio when the Chile-Spain match is on! I asked the guy how long the radio show will be, because I don't want to miss much of this match!
