SOME OBSERVATIONS
Just a few things this week...
1. Baby Joseph is beginning to raise himself onto his knees. When he tries to move, though, he usually tumbles forward and hits his face on the floor. Poor little guy. But I suppose this is how walking begins. He'll be 7 months old tomorrow. This seems a bit soon to me, but perhaps I'm forgetting what it was like in the early days with my own kids. I'll have to take some more photos of him and post them. I am such a bad grandma!
2. Work was exceptionally busy this week and I seem to have come down with a cold. But Sean has one and I think I might have caught it from him. He stayed home from school Thursday with a sore throat and a touch of laryngitis. But after some bed rest and lots of fluid intake, he seemed better and went to school yesterday. However, last night and this morning he's been sneezing and his nose is running, as is mine. Oh, the joys of Canadian winters. :/
3. Despite being sick, I watched three exceptional Copa Libertadores matches on Thursday night. (Picspam is below the cut.) When you're sick, nothing seems to beat watching TV from a comfortable sofa, propped up on a big soft pillow, snuggled into a warm comforter, and kept conscious with the help of hot chicken soup, tea and other warm beverages. :)
All my teams won. They played beautifully. It was an amazing night of football. :)
4. I guess the really big news is that Italy has lost a Championship League place and Germany has gained one. This could be quite devastating for Italy, as their quality of football seems to be heading into a slide. I guess the football analysts will be dissecting this to see what went wrong, but I have to believe that their lack of devlopment of youth players has something to do with it. Kudos to Germany for winning a 4th Championship League place, though. The quality of the Bundesliga has been improving over the past few years that Italy's has been sliding.
5. I must sing the praises of Nutella. Has anyone tried it on a sliced croissant, spread on the middle and eaten sandwich-style? Frigging awesome with a cup of tea. :)
Okay, that's all for the ramblings. Now on to the Copa Libertadores picspam!
~~~~
MY TEAM: Club Atletico Independiente, Argentina.
Independiente 3 - 0 Penarol (Uruguay).
Penarol is a really good team, but Independiente played fantastically well to beat them by 3-0!
Facundo Parra, one of the goalscorers.
Nicolas Cabrera.
Nicolas Cabrera vs Tony Pacheco of Penarol.
Cuqui Silvera.
Cuqui & Facu hugs & kisses.
Celebrations.
Somebody's hurt!
Patito Rodriguez.
Carlos Matheu didn't play.
But Leonel Nunez came on near the end.
The bench:
MY TEAM: Argentinos Juniors.
(I used to dislike this team intensely, but now they are different and I've changed my mind! For the time being, anyway.)
Argentinos Juniors 3 - 1 America (Mexico)
Cristian Sanchez of Argentinos.
Gustavo Oberman.
Santiago Salcedo (SaSa) being hugged by Santiago Gentiletti.
SaSa's pretty hot. He scored a brace.
Rolfi Montenegro of America used to play for Independiente! He scored America's only goal.
MY TEAM: CLUB ATLETICO JUNIOR.
Junior 2-1 Gremio (Brazil).
Gremio has an incredible history and are ranked the #1 team in Brazil. I really thought they might be the team to beat in this competition, but Junior put on an incredible performance to win at home.
My favourite player in the entire world is this guy, Geovanny Hernandez, #10.
Another amazing player is Jhon Viafara. He and Geovanny both scored for Junior.
Another favourite of mine is Cesar Fawcett, the left back.
Some of the other matches from this week's Copa Lib:
Cruzeiro (Brazil) won 4 - 0 over Guarani (Paraguay).
Universidad San Martin (Chile) beat San Luis (Mexico) 2 - 0.
Estudiantes (Argentina) beat Deportes Tolima (Colombia) 1 - 0.
Last year's winners Internacional (Brazil) beat Chiapas Jaguares (Mexico) 4 - 0.
Inter fans in the stands.
Unfortunately, MY TEAM Nacional (Uruguay) could not win against Fluminense (Brazil), but tied 0 - 0.
My bb Sebastian Coates and Gabriel Marques fighting the Fluminense guy.
He's a fighter.
Seba vs Rafael Moura.
Bruno Fornaroli for Nacional. :P
Flu's GK Ricardo Berna vs Nicolas Vigneri of Nacional.
Mauricio Pereyra fights for the ball.
Gabriel Marques vs Rafael Moura.
Nutella. xD xD Yeah, it's nice very now and then.
When I saw you writing "my club" about Independiente, I wondered what Ricky would say if I started like that. xD Once at his place he showed me a pic on Marca of Diego Simeone and said "He's Argie" and me: "Yeah, I remember, he was River Plate's coach some time ago." Ricky: O_O "Why do you know more than I do???" Me: *shrugs*
OMG, you really should make a collage post of your bro! That would be awesome! :)
Nutella is a new discovery for me. Since I went to Europe two years ago and it was everywhere!
LOL @ you knowing more than Ricky about Argentine football! hahaha!
That's a fantastic icon of Marcelo, btw! XD
Don't you have Nutella at your place? I thought, it's everywhere by now. xD Since even the German national team is making commercials for it for years now.
I for sure don't know more than him, I just knew this very fact and he was shocked. Amused me to no end. :P
Aawww, thank you! Made it myself. The pic was so adorable. I bet he was pointing towards Ángel.
I absolutely agree with you about Nutella. At one stage I used to put chunks of chocolate into croissants, but Nutella works much better. Having said that, I make sure I only buy the small jars so I don't eat too much in one go!
Another couple of great ways to ingest Nutella are:
1) Acquire some thin Mexican tortillas. Spread a thinnish film of Nutella over the entire surface of one of these flatbreads. Wrap this tightly around a peeled, whole banana, then slice into 1-inch morsels. Eat and enjoy! :)
2) Nutella hot chocolate, complete with a topping of whipped cream drizzled with liquid chocolate.
Good idea about buying the small jars. However, my local supermarket has got the LARGE jars on sale for half price. Too much of a temptation to resist. :P
