REAL LIFE UPDATE

It seems like I haven't posted since forever.

Some things going on...

I just recovered from a very weird virus. I had head cold symptoms, particularly sinus headaches and congestion, for which I used zinc and drinking apple cider vinegar in hot water with much success. But the other effects of this thing were extreme fatigue followed by two days of excruciating joint pain limited to the hip joints and radiating down into the thigh muscles. I work for a doctor and he said there were several patients with the same thing. One little girl 9 years old had to be wheeled in by her parents in a stroller because she couldn't walk! I had to go home early on Thursday because I couldn't get around too well. thank god it's gone now. These viruses are murder!

Sean's 8th birthday was yesterday. He had a great day. Went shopping from noon till 3:30 PM and he got everything he wanted, including McDonald's for lunch. His favourite is the cheeseburger. Then he got to go to Chuck-E-Cheese with Jamie and Kari. They kept him out until 9 PM, then came home for birthday cake. He feels all grown up now. :)

My travel agent has booked my flights to Spain and Germany, but he's got me on Air France. I know he was trying to save me money and he did...but didn't Air France have two planes that went down in the past year? :(

He is trying to get me the hotels I want but wasn't able to get the one in Bilbao that I wanted! :(

Anyway, I'll be leaving on December 1st, a bit more than two weeks away. I am getting really excited! XD

Some Discoveries...

I've just finished watching the first season of '24', a series I can't believe I never watched before. It's so suspenseful and just the type of thing I like...sometimes you have to suspend belief but it's worth it. What a great series!

Thanks to a flister I have been using phosphate-free shampoo and it has made my hair MUCH better! Shinier, healthier-looking...it's fantastic! I had used a fast-acting hair dye (works in 10 minutes) that practically burnt my hair off and left it dry and dull. But the shampoo...made by L'Oreal...has done a fantastic job of bringing it back to life. :)

Strivectin face cream that gets rid of your wrinkles. This stuff really works, trust me. It's expensive, but I got a free sample tube when I bought some Lancome products and it's really miraculous, especially in our skin-drying winter weather. :)

I've also finished watching several South American films, a few of which were outstanding. I'm going to be reviewing them soon. They are really stunning. Two from Colombia, one from Uruguay and one from Chile. :)

Okay, I am so behind on picspamming it's ridiculous. I may just limit my pics posts to my favourite teams and/or players exclusively until things settle back to normal for me. :)

Yo dude !!!!!!!!!!! hahaha !!

Will you let me know your Bilbao plans, flights, hotel etc and I'll let you have mine aswell via PM, please ?? Oh it's not long now, I'm getting mega excited :)

Am pleased that you are feeling better, was it Zinc tablets you took ?? I suffer alot with sinus problems and am always congested, can never seem to shift it.

Happy Birthday to Sean aswell.

[identity profile] just-jenni.livejournal.com 2010-11-14 04:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Hahahaha. OK, I'll send you a PM with my flight details, etc.

I know!!! I am so excited I think I am gonna need some valium or something!

Yeah, I find that zinc eats up the mucous or something and always clears my sinuses out. Headaches go away. Also drinking a teaspoon of cider vinegar in a cup of hot water clears them as well. And as a bonus it settles my stomach and gets rid of gas. XD

[identity profile] blue-eyed-miss.livejournal.com 2010-11-15 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I now have Zinc tablets and cider vinegar :)

[identity profile] lhuneldaiel.livejournal.com 2010-11-14 04:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Goodness, that virus sounds awful! Happy to hear you are feeling better now. Apple Cider Vinegar is so fantastic! Great when you have a cough as well. I even use it on cuts, it wipes out infections. I also swear by L-Lysine, an amino acid that kills viruses within hours. Let me know if you want more info on that stuff :)

Gah, I'm so out of the loop! I didn't know you were going to Spain and Germany. How exciting!

[identity profile] just-jenni.livejournal.com 2010-11-14 05:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, I would love some more info on L-Lysine, which you had told me about before. Now that I find these natural remedies work so well, I want to use them instead of chemical medication whenever I can. :)

It was a last-minute thing! Bill and Becky are going to Bilbao and when I said I was jealous they replied why didn't I join them? I decided yeah, why not? Because it's a longer journey for me than just a couple of days I decided to go to Berlin after Bilbao for another few days before I go home.

Next year I had planned to visit Amsterdam again as I mentioned to you and I'd still like to do that. But not in December! LOL. I was thinking more like June but I may have to wait until September. We'll see which is better. XD

[identity profile] fanged-geranium.livejournal.com 2010-11-14 06:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry to hear you've been ill again, but yay, trip to Europe! You should come and visit Exeter one of these days (not that the football here is that brilliant, but the team is in League 1 this season).

[identity profile] just-jenni.livejournal.com 2010-11-14 07:40 pm (UTC)(link)
It's definitely one of the hazards of working for a doctor. :(

I would love to visit Exeter sometime! Congrats for the team being in League 1...I am not a football snob so I wouldn't mind seeing a match from another division. :)

Someday I want to visit Newcastle. I have been to London, Liverpool, Walton-on-the-Naze and some other places where we have relatives.

[identity profile] sophiamoon.livejournal.com 2010-11-14 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Very glad to hear you're better. Sounds like a nasty virus. *hugs*

[identity profile] just-jenni.livejournal.com 2010-11-15 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you so much. It was a pretty bad week but now I feel a lot better, if a little tired. :)

[identity profile] aglaiya.livejournal.com 2010-11-14 09:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Good to hear you are well again!

(I get NO viruses!!! They ALL are afraid of me *smiles* I'm a very healthy person and I was ALWAYS living not healthy. I think ALL the so called 'healthy stuff' is shit!)

Can't wait to meet you!

[identity profile] just-jenni.livejournal.com 2010-11-14 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks! It was a rough week for me! :(

I think it is an occupational hazard for me to catch things. And I refuse to get a flu shot...I am not putting that shit into me!!! :(

Some natural remedies work pretty well...the zinc is great, so is the vinegar. And I take a multivitamin every day as well.

Me neither! I can't wait! As soon as my agent has booked the hotel I'll let you know all my travel details! XD

[identity profile] aglaiya.livejournal.com 2010-11-15 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
I take NO shit!!! I only need my insulin and NO other!!! It is the best for me because I think all the other shit they tell you you should take is useless! They only want to make money with all the vitamins. Natural remedies are the *lolzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz*
But okay if someone needs it and has the money...

That would be great! *hugs*

[identity profile] wildmopdogs.livejournal.com 2010-11-14 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
wow that virus sounds horrible! *hugs* glad you're feeling better already

Awww XD Happy birthday to Sean!

What parts of Spain and Germany will you be visiting?
Btw, I've always wondered... when you visit several EU countries like that in one trip, do you need a visa for each one?

"Strivectin face cream that gets rid of your wrinkles."
OK, this is fabulous to know - my mom has been debating whether or not she should get this, for about three years now, since she saw it in a magazine. How long did you try it for and how fast did you start seeing results? Also, how it is in terms of irritation? (She's got really sensitive skin.)

somewhat OT: I've been trying Lancome also, their Primordiale Yeux (sp?) eye cream (I got a sample to try out), for about a month or two, and it's done nothing for my expression lines, but on the other hand, it hasn't irritated my eyes and hasn't made me break out either - so I dunno where I stand there. :/ For me, it's about getting rid of expression lines around the eyes and preventing wrinkles from forming.

[identity profile] just-jenni.livejournal.com 2010-11-14 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you!

The Basque Country in Spain (basically the north coast...Bilbao, San Sebastian, etc.) And Berlin in Germany. I haven't been to either of those places before. :)

Honestly, the Strivectin was a free sample so I wasn't too careful with it because at first I didn't know how expensive it was. Basically it's a dollar a millilitre, so a 30 ml tube would be $30 or more. A 150 ml tube costs $162.00 here.

One morning I noticed my arms looked a bit wrinkly on the surface because the air was dry, I guess. So I rubbed some Strivectin on my arms and noticed that my skin was completely smooth later in the day.

It's supposed to take longer to work on deeper wrinkles, but will get rid of the surface ones immediately. I've been using it for almost two weeks now and notice a definite improvement on my face, neck and chest. I have sensitive skin too, and it doesn't bother me at all.

I love Lancome products, but on my eyes I would only use a hypoallergenic eye cream...Marcelle makes a really nice one. Strivectin makes an eye cream as well...it's cheaper than the face cream so I think I'll try some, even though my eyes are not that bad. :)

[identity profile] just-jenni.livejournal.com 2010-11-15 10:36 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry, I forgot to comment on the visa thing.

No, you don't need anything special for visiting the EU countries. In fact, when driving from Spain into Portugal, there is no stop at the border or anything. You just drive straight through. For all other countries we flew in, and the only thing is they look at your passport at the airport, but that is all.

[identity profile] wildmopdogs.livejournal.com 2010-11-16 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks for the insight on the skin products! :)
I've never heard of Marcelle before but I'll definitely see if they have it around here.

Oh that's really nice that you can go from country to country without getting visas for each one, even if you're not a EU resident. Makes multi-country vacations much easier. Good to know. I'd like to go in the mid-future and visit at least two countries, so yeah.

[identity profile] sunshinelucy.livejournal.com 2010-11-15 06:29 am (UTC)(link)
Yikes, sounds like a terrible virus! I'm glad to hear you're feeling better.
Happy birthday to Sean! That's so cool he's 8 and is an uncle!

Ahh, that's so exciting you're leaving so soon!!

Heehee, pjosphate-free shampoo, eh? Wonder who that was ;o) I'm so happy it's working for you! I may need to find this L'Oreal one you're using. The one I'm using, while the shampoo is nice, the conditioner I have to go with it is not really all that awesome. It's hard to find super good conditioner with no nuts though *sigh*

Ooh, ooh! I'm so excited for your film reviews! I'm already sold in the one from Uruguay and all it took was 'Uruguay'.

[identity profile] just-jenni.livejournal.com 2010-11-15 10:33 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that was some weird virus alright. :(

Sean had the best birthday ever! :)

Hahahaha. Yeah, it was you who got me looking for phosphate-free shampoo! I don't use it with phosphate-free conditioner...I use another conditioner that I like and gets my hair the way I want it. Maybe that's the secret.

The Uruguay film was fantastic! I'll have to post some reviews soon. XD

[identity profile] sunshinelucy.livejournal.com 2010-11-18 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
Ooh, I think I have to look for a better conditioner then, because this one doesn't seem to be cutting it :o)

[identity profile] just-jenni.livejournal.com 2010-11-18 12:37 pm (UTC)(link)
OH MY GOD YOUR ICON OF SAMI!!!!!!!!!!! HIS ARMS!!!!!!!!!

*IS DED*

*sigh* If I can take my eyes off of Sami for a second I will go and find the name of the conditioner I like best:

OK, it's called 'Salon La Coupe VOLUME ultra rinse'. It claims to 'maximize BIG HAIR body and bounce with...light, weightless daily use formula'. It's made in Mississauga (LOL). I find it pretty good. It doesn't leave a lot of icky residue in your hair and its claims of creating BIG HAIR are actually true. My hair is very fine and tends to lay flat, but this conditioner combined with the phosphate-free shampoo leaves it with much more volume than I've ever had before. :)

[identity profile] just-jenni.livejournal.com 2010-11-28 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Aaack! I am so LATE with this! I was going to make a post about this hair product I just tried but now I don't have time! I went to the salon to get my hair trimmed and the stylist told me that my hair was quite dry, even though I had noticed it was better using the phosphate-free shampoo. She recommended using a tea tree oil treatment, which was free there that day, and it made my hair so nice that later on I bought some tea tree oil shampoo and conditioner. Paul Mitchell makes it. She also suggested using a leave-in conditioner as well, on top of the Paul Mitchell one. So I am doing that too and my hair is much, much softer and easier to manage now.

Just thought I'd pass that info along! XD

[identity profile] txorakeriak.livejournal.com 2010-11-15 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm glad to hear you're better! I was thinking of you a lot lately and hoping you'd finally recovered! That sounds like a nasty virus indeed! *big hugs*

Sorry to hear your travel agent got you on Air France against your will, but I'm sure nothing will happen! Don't get paranoid! :) And ack, how annoying that the hotel thing didn't work out! You have to give us the details of your flights and your hotel so we can plan to meet up! :D

Will you fly directly to Bilbao then and spend the first few days without us? You have to explore the area a bit, then, and let us know what we need to see. XD (And maybe you can sneak off to Lezama? The boys won't be there when Becky and I arrive, considering the fact that they have an away match on Sunday, but you might catch them earlier in the week. Oh, and I was just thinking: The tickets for the match against Real Sociedad will go on sale on Friday, so maybe our chance to get tickets would be greater if you get them on Friday? :D)

SO EXCITED. :D

24 is definitely a series I want to get into once I've watched all the other series that I bought. :D Thanks for the rec!

[identity profile] just-jenni.livejournal.com 2010-11-16 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks, Bill. I was useless for awhile thanks to that stupid virus! But I'm up and about now. :)

LOL @ Air France! I'm going to ask my boss for some tranquillizers for when I'm flying! Hahahahaha!

The hotel thing is stupid! I can't believe the Barcelo would be all booked! But it's OK...the Tryp Arenal sounds nice. And it's so close to the Guggenheim...I know you're not really a museum person but I want to visit it! XD

Yes, I wanted a little bit more time there. I would LOVE to sneak off to Lezama! I hope I can find someone at the hotel or elsewhere who will be helpful enough to assist me in finding different places. I'm kinda scared to see the players all by myself because I am afraid of making a fool of myself by falling flat on my face or something. (And you KNOW I can!!!!) LOL.

OMG I will do everything possible to get tickets for the Real Sociedad match!!! I will certainly try my best. Wouldn't that be totally awesome?????

I AM SO FRIGGING EXCITED IT IS CRAZY!!!!!

OMG 24 is so totally awesome I can't believe I never saw this series before! I am on the second season now and hard to believe, because the first season was so incredible, but this season is even better! IMO anyway. It has everything I like minus a couple of annoying characters from last season!

No problem. I like reccing films and series. Have you watched Rosario Tijeras yet? I still have to review the other awesome Latino movies I watched while I was sick. XDDDDDDD

[identity profile] lady--croft.livejournal.com 2010-11-16 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
I'm glad you are better now and will be totally recovered before your vacation. If it is any consolation, I took Air France to Italy and it was an amazing flight. Everything went flawlessly.

Interesting to hear about Strivectin. I read that it was a good product - but that was just magazines. I trust and believe it when actual people I know use the product and say it is good. I don't have a lot of wrinkles, more around my eyes than anything. I must check to see if they make any eye creams. Thanks for the tip.

[identity profile] just-jenni.livejournal.com 2010-11-18 12:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you for those words. (LOL...I love your icon.) My boss tells me he has flown Air France as well and nothing happened, and he also gave me a prescription for Lorazepam (a tranquilizer). Hahaha.

I do believe Strivectin has an eye cream and other products as well. It's quite amazing. :)
