FALCAO SPEAKS TO THE FACT HE HAS HAD 3 GOALS DENIED IN TWO GAMES

Here is a link to the A Bola article:

Quote from the magazine:

"the players prefer not to think that there are strange things in the Portuguese league."

(I used Google Translater to change the Portuguese into English. :P)

That's strange. Very strange!

It is strange! That is what Falcao says! I just hope that there is no corruption there. :(

I can only translate all and will never really understand it. I'll not judge.

Me too. But it came to my mind that Falcao is very smart. (Well, we knew that already.) He has done what EPL managers do...he has brought the problem out into the open, making everyone aware, and now it should probably stop!

Congrats to him for being tough enough to score again last night despite the controversy he has stirred up! :)

He is a goal getter! Mucho love for him.

Maybe his words were right....

True, although nobody can possibly know why it happened.

[identity profile] vanyamcr.livejournal.com 2010-01-30 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
And I have one thing to say to him: LOL!
If my english was good enough I would love to explain to you why this made me laugh.. I'm sorry but I can't!
I love Falcao but I think he's in the wrong team! I know he's doing great and I'm really happy for him, but I know Porto and the portuguese football for a very long time so this kind of things coming from Porto's players just make me laugh!

I'm sorry for the long comment but Porto's strategy this year is pissing me off!!!! Nothing against Falcao, I know he's just another 'muppet' in Porto's hands and that makes me sad for him..

Argh! Sorry for all the things I've said, but this year's season is making me insane!! lol

Nobody can know why this happened. It could have been just a strange coincidence. But he is a very smart guy, and if he follows English football at all, he will know that all the top managers play 'mind games' and talk about things like this ("the refs are against our team", "the refs let Manchester United get away with murder"), and this causes controversy and brings the problem to the surface so that everyone becomes aware of it. I don't know if this is why Falcao talked about it to the press, but it could be.

I don't know that much about Porto as a team (I follow Benfica) but as Falcao used to play for River Plate in Argentina, I have been a fan of his for years. XD

Don't get me wrong, I understand Falcao, and I'm not blaming him, not at all! I really like him as a players and as a person, I just don't like Porto and here in Portugal we all know them really well! This week was been insane, with Porto's players talking about 'strange things'. This is what I meant when I said what I said http://bleacherreport.com/articles/330214-fc-porto-leaked-phone-taps-proof-major-corruption-scandal
Well, as you may know Porto and Benfica are rivals and Porto hate Benfica (I don't know why though) and this year Porto is 3rd and Benfica 1st/2nd so imagine!

I hope you understand what I meant to say! But really, don't get me wrong, I really like Falcao, he's a great player and I'm happy for him and he seems to be a very intelligent and sweet person. I'm sorry for saying this things but the last week is just being stupid! Porto is a synonym of corruption and that kind of things just make me lol! But I do hope Falcao does a great season!

[identity profile] just-jenni.livejournal.com 2010-01-31 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, no, you're OK, I understand what you meant. :)
Actually, it is great to have someone there in Portugal who knows what is going on. If I could I would fly there twice a year...I know someone who works in a hotel in Lisbon and is a card-carrying Benfica supporter. He knows everything...LOL...but when we were there last May he didn't say anything about any corruption...I know that Porto has been fined for match-fixing in the past. You would think they would learn from it! I knew Porto and Benfica were rivals but I thought it was somewhat 'friendly'...I know how sweet and kind Portuguese people are and I figured that was why the rivalry was not all intense like in Italy or Holland and elsewhere where ppl kill each other...:(

Coming from Colombia where fans kill players for a bad game and players kill fans who threaten them, I guess Falcao should know about this kind of stuff. He is very religious, and a very nice guy, but he is also very tough...hard as nails. :)

Oh hey! Thanks for the link, I meant to say! XDD

[identity profile] only21grams.livejournal.com 2010-01-31 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
Hmmm, this is more than just a math. Weird is probably the word. At least. Although I do know nothing about Portuguese league.

[identity profile] just-jenni.livejournal.com 2010-01-31 11:07 am (UTC)(link)
It does seem very strange, since this guy has scored 65 goals in his career and it has never happened to him before. But we do not know why, of course. However, he has brought it out into the open and that usually helps for 'something strange' to be corrected.

[identity profile] txorakeriak.livejournal.com 2010-01-31 10:50 am (UTC)(link)
LOL, strange things?

What should Villarreal say, then? They get three penalties denied in ONE MATCH!

Of course, one mustn't forget that match fixing still happens, but I think in both cases it's just horribly bad luck.

I hope it won't stop him from scoring, though. I want Porto to do well this season!

[identity profile] just-jenni.livejournal.com 2010-01-31 11:01 am (UTC)(link)
None of us know what is really going on. And I can understand the player's feelings of frustration when this has NEVER happened to him before. He has scored 65 goals since 2005 (I checked his stats) and he knows when he is offside or not.

I think he'll be OK. He scored another one last night! :)
