U-17 TOURNAMENT IN NIGERIA: WTF?
This article appeared in 'The Spoiler'.
Nigeria U17s captain is too old to play for the U21 team
November 4th, 2009
The Spoiler
Golden Eaglets skipper allegedly turned 18 about seven years ago
The U-17 World Cup, currently taking place in Nigeria, has been rocked by allegations the host nation’s captain, Fortune Chukwudi, is actually somewhere closer to 25.
Before the tournament, FIFA had made attempts to stamp out ‘age cheating’ by using MRI scans to determine a players age through bone density, but on Sunday a former Nigerian international revealed he’d seen Chukwudi playing youth team football as far back as 02/03:
“In the 2002/2003 season, I was chairman of Sharks Football Club of Port Harcourt. I decided to have a feeder team of fresh school leavers not older than 20 years.
One of my key players then is the current captain of our so-called Under 17 Golden Eaglets. By his own admission at that time, that is seven years ago, he was 18 years old.
If we are not utterly irresponsible, how can he be eligible for this tournament when he is not less than 25 years old now?”

I have always said the tournements in Africa are fucking shit. But Fifa will kiss their arses!
I'm so sorry for the young boys from honest countries.
But you know football is all about money and Fifa can make money in Africa and in Asia and they will do it and the teams from South and Central America and I guess from Europe too are the cheated ones.
HURRAY! Yippie! Our football world is the best!
Now I go and try to sleep and I will cry till I have no more tears left....

I am afraid for the 2010 WC. It will in no way be as amazing as the 2006 one was. If they ban those horrible horns then it will at least maybe get to half as good.
I will wait for 2014. THAT ONE will be great!
I feel so bad that ALL the Argie teams are out of the Copa. But this Copa is not that important except for the winner, and there will be the Libertadores to look forward to! :)

Thanks! I guess Germany was a wonderful place for the 2006 football world cup.
To be in the city was GREAT at this time. All the people were so friendly (and the Berlin people are not the friendliest in the world) it was such a very good ambiance here!
Millions of people on the fan mile!!! It was a BIG festival!
There were at some point thoughts to hold the WC again in Germany (but South Africa managed it hopefully) I would have love it so much!!! For sure I would have tried to get tickets for some matches.... *lol* but it was 2006 nearly impossible to get tickets.
Who will visit South Africa??? Normal people cannot go there! Here all countries are not far away...
Okay South America is BIG too but I guess they have there in Brazil 2014 a better infrastructure and at last the really LOVE football there! (I guess they love football in Africa too but in another way)
That cup would have looked very good at Vélez!!!
We have to wait for the next chance....
