This weekend has been weird. First, I came home from work early on Friday because I was feeling ill. It seems I have a virus like a cold, except I feel nauseated too. And I have to sleep a lot.
On Friday night I watched a movie on DVD: '30 Days of Night'. Josh Hartnett is in it, as well as Manu Bennett who plays Crixus on 'Spartacus: Blood and Sand'. XDDD It was a really good vampire horror film set in Alaska.
On Saturday morning when I woke up, I watched another movie: "The Vampire's Assistant". It stars John C. Reilly and Ray Stevenson from 'Rome'. It's a great movie...scary and really funny at the same time, with a wickedly gross spider who terrorizes everyone in the film. In fact, the spider (named 'Octa') is so good, she should get her own name in the credits! Hahahahaha..she's coloured red & blue just like Spiderman. Brilliant!
At 7:45 am Saturday was the match of the weekend for me: Chelsea vs Manchester City. Would Wayne Bridge shake John Terry's hand? The suspense! The drama! Of course, he didn't. And both teams hit each other hard, Chelsea doing it more than City, and going down to 9 men in the process. Carlos Tevez produced his usual heroics, winning it for City. What an entertaining game!
At 10:00 am was Birmingham City vs Wigan. I was hoping for more from Wigan but it didn't happen. Marcelo Moreno didn't play. Birmingham City is pretty good. Hugo Rodallega is a beautiful man. XD I had to ditch this game at half-time and go do some housework.
12 noon brought us Getafe vs Zaragoza. Strangely, Getafe played horribly...they were not up to their usual level. Zaragoza is playing much better now thanks to some new signings in January. Most notable is the little Chilean striker Humberto Suazo, who scored two goals. He is already Zara's highest scorer, even though he just came there last month!
At 2:00 pm was the Tenerife vs Real Madrid game. The one I was waiting for, although I thought it would be boring. But it wasn't, thanks to Tenerife being a pretty good team! They can pass the ball around. Gonzalo Higuain showed his brilliance again, though, scoring a couple of great goals! Ezequiel Garay sure does like him, eh? XDDD
4:00 pm brought us the Barcelona vs Malaga game. At first I thought I would have to take a nap during this one but it wasn't boring at all either! Malaga played very well and almost held Barca to a draw. Barca has not been playing as good as usual lately. At this point I am VERY tired and realizing I should have slept!
6:30 pm. I sent my husband out to buy dinner and he brought home pizza and chicken wings. The pizza was good but the wings were too salty. I cut up a green pepper and an orange to eat with my meal, for health reasons! XD Then I settled down again to watch River Plate (Uruguay) vs Penarol. What an exciting game - no sleeping during this one! It ended up 3 - 2 for Penarol, having gone back and forth all game long. Jonathan Urretavizcaya of Penarol (on loan from Benfica) is an amazing player. He scored two goals. But Uruguay has lots of really good players, as they proved in this game. It was very fast-paced, both teams wanting to win.
8:30 pm. Damn it, I really wanted to see this one! The need for a nap is very strong! It's time for the Colombian double-header. First, we have Cucuta vs Nacional. Nacional is one of my favourite teams. I watched up till half-time and then fell asleep. Poor Gaston Pezzutti, Nacional's very talented, very handsome Argentine GK, made a blunder which resulted in Cucuta scoring. But luckily Nacional ended up tying it up. I didn't see it, though, because I fell asleep during half-time. :(
10:30 pm. When I woke up, the second Colombian game was on: Independiente Medellin, last season's champions, were playing Quindio, who is in the relegation zone. This one didn't interest me too much, although Medellin is a good team and I like them. I watched a bit of it, then went to bed.
Today has also been full of football, although I did have a couple of hours to finish up my housework and laundry, and I do feel much better!
I've got to get back to the Atleti-Valencia game now! I feel if I am not there to yell at Ever Banega through the screen, the little idiot will get himself sent off! LOL.
