I am like a chameleon and I change colours all the time! I cannot remain loyal to ALL but I have not been a football fan as long as you! So I guess I can explain it by saying I am in a state of transition all the time. I forgot to mention River Plate above! I was thinking about River Plate and if I could make another Argentine team my favourite, but I cannot! My heart is with River, and that is after watching all the other teams and watching some programs on Argentine football and to the roots of the clubs and how the barra bravas fit in and all that stuff. And I am totally 100 percent with River!
But Real Madrid was the first BIG team I loved, and it was because of the way they played football, the way they were organized. But at the time Zidane was there, so were Becks, Roberto Carlos, Ronaldo and Raul was quicker and better.
Now it is not the same team. Plus I hate how they buy players and think they can slap a team together like that. I much admire the Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao way of using homegrown players, (the River way too!) but I CANNOT support Barcelona! I could, however, switch my loyalty to Athletic Bilbao quite easily. And it may take me a couple of years but I can probably do it.
LOL @ us not liking similar things! But we are on different sides of the world and that has a lot to do with shaping attitudes. Our similarities are that we like attacking football, we both like South American football, River Plate, Colombian and Mexican NTs and teams! And Liverpool! Liverpool is unique and special. I felt something special the first time I watched Spurs, though, and I loved them at once. Back then they had different players but also the same attacking style, using two or three strikers and rampaging fullbacks and an involved, busy midfield. I love that kind of football that has movement and surprises you with their creativity.
Anyway, too long a reply! Let's just say that we agree more than disagree, and I can always see your point! I understand where you are coming from and I understand the things you hate! I might be more diplomatic but I am also less passionate than you about it. Yet I admire passion and heart more than anything. And so this is why I love players like Geovanny, Bedoya, Sergio Ramos, Sebastian Abreu, Stevie Gerrard, and others like them.♥
